You make it look easy, Andrew, but I'm sure its skill and experience that comes thru to your audience! My THANKS to each of you, and ALL FARMERS for what you do for the country! I have raccoon damage every year. I was told to plant cucumbers throughout my corn and the coons wouldn't bother it. I was sure that wouldn't work but I tried one year and had no damage! Now I plant squash instead as we don't eat squash in my family so don't care how much fruit I get. I only want the vines. I've also planted zucchini and such. Anything with those types of leaves. It's worked every year. They say the coons don't like the feel on prickly leaves on their feet. I don't assume that's practical for your size of planting but thought you'd be interested. Go figure!

Good Afternoon Veggie Boys. Looks wonderful, truly awesome. Keep in mind that a drought is a tough thing to deal with. - and it's bound to happen sometime this summer. In the event that it does, I recommend that you begin spraying your fields with hydrogen peroxide in addition to regular H2O. You should doing it in usually in the evening. It's a great supplement to regular water to assist with the soil, our most important resource. Headin' in now for a big family supper with the family. Looks like it's gonna be taters, maybe some corn - possibly a nice big steak from the deep freeze. God Bless Y'all and thank you do to keep us all fed and healthy.

@@narsakucanada154 Yes it is. Soon we'll be hearing the lovely buzz of the cicadas, the "heat bugs" of August. When you're feeling low, just close your eyes and think of yellow peppers, one of God's many wonders. At harvest time, when it's time to pick those yellow peppers, it's as if you're picking the "capsicum sum of the sun of one summer." Take care and God Bless.

I'm probably too late for answer, but wondering what variety of broccoli you plant? And I'm sure it's already been suggested but here in Iowa if you're going to plant sweet corn as a small gardener, you must always put up electric fence prior to silking, tassling. Coons attack corn as soon as they can smell it, long before it's mature.. The large growers can take a hit of a few rows here and there.
@bstiger6482
@bstiger6482 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you already know this, but you could save on your chicken feed costs by saving the broccoli leaves and feeding them to the poultry. They love greens. Just something for the frugal minded.

I know how disheartening it is to find critter damage in the corn! Skunks will chew on what the coon drag down, I don't think they pull the ears off themselves. If you decide to set some live traps for the coon, try marshmallows- you need something extra sweet to compete with the corn! I have had success with that.
