We Had Brunch At Chef Mickey's Character Buffet & A Rainy Disney World Day!

In today's vlog we head to Disney World's Contemporary Resort to try Chef Mickey's for the very first time. We booked our reservation for 11:40am and it ended up being their brunch time, so we got some breakfast and lunch options which was great to be able to try different types of food. We had a few different types of eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats, pancakes and waffles. There were also lunch items like carved turkey, pasta in marinara, veggies, salmon, soup and different desserts. It is a buffet so you can go back to to the buffet bar and dessert bar as many times as you would like. They characters were the best part of brunch for us though, we loved interacting with Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Minnie and Mickey! Everyone was so fun and we got pictures with all of them. It didn't feel rushed at all which was nice. Then after brunch we headed into Magic Kingdom but got caught in the rain. We were able to ride the people mover and pirates and we also met Mickey and Minnie in their birthday outfits too! I know this is like a year ago but like I think of it as an improv exercise. You know that they have a 'friend' lol, they know you know, so you're both just acting out a scene. The most awkward thing is the characters who can't speak, in which case you can pick out topical things - food at where you're eating, rides in the area (ask them what they're favourites are!), and especially for minnie and daisy, talking about their outfit details is always good! Some of those outfits have super cute details on them and they'll always be happy to show them off! If there's an event going on right now, talk about that as well.

I absolutely love chef mickey's. It's a great environment, it's in my favorite hotel in WDW, and they had THE *BEST* pancakes the two times I've been. I've also heard that if you have a child that's scared of the mascot characters (the ones that won't talk back) you take them to one of these restaurants. Something about eating while interacting with them makes them feel more at ease, on top of freedom to walk around to not feel forced...and for here specifically, their little napkin dance thing they do to interact with everyone in a happy setting

Glad you are trying another character dinning. When you both make it to the Disneyland Resort in California, I suggest trying Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast Buffet at Story Tellers Cafe in The Grand. The food is always good, the atmosphere is very comfortable and the characters are cute in their camping outfits.

I will say I watch Disney videos world wide 24/7 while I have been down and out with breast cancer and I literally live for your voice...(sounds weird) but for me your voice IS DISNEY! If I could ever imagine a voice over for any Disney trip EVER...your voice is what I would ever hope for! I am in Disney no matter where you are with your videos thank you for the jope and positivity you give to me and my 3 and 5 year olds life through this really tough cancerous time!! My favorite part of this video was the person asking if you needed help talking a picture. Being nice it rad! A close second, was Jen leading you into the Magic Kingdom, which was very sweet! Character dinning is always for the characters. My oldest son loved the experience during his birthday, but I didn't really care for the dinner. The breakfast looks better, so I think next for our youngest's birthday we will take him in the morning. Thanks for the video.

I love the character events at Disney, but I agree the food is simple. I think they do that because it will appeal to kids and most people. So if you want amazing food, go to any of the nice restaurants. For Playful characters and plenty of tasty food, these Character Buffets are tons of fun.

Last time we were there, Chef Mickey’s was undergoing renovation, so it was moved to the convention center, temporarily. So, I forgot that the bathrooms were so oddly placed! This reminded me that on our first trip my four year old wasn’t happy about that. As always, I love these reviews. You guys are the best!!

I need a Disney redo! We went to this breakfast this past November (that I was totally looking forward to) around 11am and actually sat in that same section, but closer to that wall towards the food. If we get to come back again I’ll know to request a different table. We were seated in direct sunlight. My husband and I were SWEATING, our 1 yr old was crying and miserable, and my 3 year old was just excited to meet the characters. My husband ended up taking our 1 year old to some shade to get him to fall asleep and he missed out on seeing the excitement on my 3 yr old’s face when the characters came around. When our server asked if my husband was coming back I mentioned the sunlight and she said that they were working on making it better. When she came back with our check she ended up only charging us for my plate. I really wasn’t expecting that and it just shows that Disney customer service goes above and beyond.
