roleing out the bales will make the straw last longer we find that with a straw blower/bedder it chopps the straw into a finer material and makes it more marshy and goes off quicker in the beds

Still absolutely astounded at how much everyone paid for straw this season! We paid a touch more than average but got a good load none the less! A huge benefit to straw though is for digestive purposes in cattle, straw has HUGE health benefits to cattle especially in young cattle and dry cows! Also have to add the straw has huge benefits to the soil when spread as dung, it gives the worms lots of digestible material to eat, slurry doesn't do such a good job of feeding the worms, we discovered this first hand just last week when our maize grounds were sampled for soil acidity, and every spear sample contained lots of worms! As a pose to our neighbours who rely heavily on a slurry setup.. they had a black top 2 inches of soil (heavily over-spread) just some food for thought for you :)

It’s nice to see the little heifer’s playing around . Yea we our like you now we uses sawdust for bedding .It looks like you got rain today it’s muddy around the barns and it’s gloomy.Tom you need to have a pin with roof and sides on it just for sawdust alone that way it will stay dry.You need to look into sawdust blowers that hook op to bobcat then put a bag of lime in with it.

One thing I would say tom is throw a bale lifter on the back of the 885 and stick a bale on it before trying to move around with one on the front. We had a cx90 here years ago it would be 2 generations newer than the 885 but had that exact same problem and that’s what we used to do to solve it before we solved it permanently by buying a claas Arion 410 9 years ago now and it’s never done that once with no weight on the back which is ideal for what we need it to do. It’s our main loader and saves us the cost of having to run a second dedicated loader in terms of manpower and running costs. Before we would have to run 2 tractors drawing in bales 1 loader tractor and 1 tractor pulling the trailer with the claas it suits us because it’s heavy enough on the back end it doesn’t need to carry a counter weight so it’s fit to pull and load it’s own trailer.

For Saw dust storage why not use a grain bag like they do for pies and corn storage. You could fill one grain bag and it may last 2 years. or make several bag out of one bag and place them all over the farms

Never want to be first. Interesting video Tom, hope the sawdust is the answer. The only trouble is that if it catches on with farmers the price of it will rocket like the straw. If there was a sawmill close by you could perhaps make an agreement with them to sell direct to you.
@Cent4man3 жыл бұрын
You need a large open ended quanset hut for the saw dust. You can dump it in from one side and pull it out the other. Keep it rotated. I would think sand would be cheaper though.
