We Had to Tow the RV 😭 Cancelling our Chicago Plans? + Staining our Wood Cabinets!

We thought we'd be on our way to Chicago to do some massive engine work on our vintage RV, but sadly the old gal won't start. 😭 So instead we're having to postpone our plans and get her towed to a nearby mechanic. In the meantime, we tried staying busy by sanding and staining all of our cabinets and counters.

I'm so glad it's not just me!! I get teary eyed any time I have to get a vehicle towed. Thank goodness, I haven't had to do that for my RV yet. (I'm trying not to jinx myself. Road trip starting Friday). And I love that you drove my to check on her. Mine is at a storage unit one town over from me. I wave every time I drive by. Sometimes, on my drive to work, I have to talk myself out of just turning off to get the RV and disappearing into the sunrise. Thanks so much for sharing all of this with us. Safe travels.

Rain guards are so cool and work. For cars, they use 3m tape and it is working. Fun Show.

When you’re installing multiple pieces of trim, like above the window @ 5:20, try to lay front piece over the back, so when you’re driving in rain, water flows over the joint rather into it. Think of how you lap shingles for water running top to bottom, but when driving water will flow front to back.

Really like the last wood stain you decided on, it makes the wood look vibrant and natural with the light color you were looking for so she will look bright and beautiful. We put some nice ply on our floor and wanted to stain it and I swear we spent more on samples of stain as opposed to the stain we eventually chose! Such a pain as nothing looked like it was “meant” to!!!

Endless Repair. Never ends. At least it’s all yours. Stains are nice. Best to not argue whether stain or paint. Painting cabinets appears to be more work since more time to select paints are an issue. Plus, the painting for a proper finish is a hassle.

When you get the Ol’ Gal in running order and want to take a trip that’s not too far, drive up to St. Charles, MO. There’s an RV park close to Old St. Charles-Main Street. And if you really wanna have a festive time, come during one of our many festivals like Legends & Lanterns in October or Christmas Traditions between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I am a mechanic. I watched this video looking forward to armchair troubleshooting your van and instead it turned out to be a discussion on woodstain! LOL!! My advice is just let her pick the color and move on. Happy Wife, Happy Life. I am guessing the float on your carb is not set up right or you have a bad ignition module in your distributor. I will check back to see what fixed it.

Amcrest sells a very simple gps tracker for like 20 bucks a month. Highly recommend if ur worried about leaving it places!

when a vehicle is standing a while things tend to clog up , you can try and see if the mecanical fuelpump is still working (pull the hose of the carb hold it in a jar and start the truck) , there should be fuel coming out if not the pump is the first place to look another thing to check is spark , pull one of the plugleads stick a screwdriver in it and hold the screwdriver near the engine block and hit the starter (of theres a spark the ignition system works ) put a some fuel in an old water bottle and drill punch a small hole in the cap , quirt i little down the carb while starting and see if it starts to stumble and cough , if it does that might be enough to get it to start , if not the carb might be needing a rebuild again

The rain guards are no longer protected by paint. I think you should find a sealant to prevent oxidation. Just a guess, but your fuel may have gone bad by sitting so many months.

My thoughts exactly. Would have been good to clear coat them. I have an raw aluminum boat and I can tell you from experience, it’s a pain to remove oxidation and it’s almost a yearly task.

I feel their viewership is UP because of the RV. Personally, I'm not into channels where you're watching peole showcase where they're staying, room/accomodation reviews and details on the food they eat. These 2 are doing something interesting; learning how to rebuild/restore an RV themselves. It's a big job and takes alot bawlz to follow through a d they're doing a great job. I found the channel because of this and I'm most likely done as soon as the RV is complete. ... maybe they'll decide to travel in it full time afterwards :) All the best.

​@@monroe2245 Hey, if RV renovations are your thing, that's awesome! But Endless Adventure isn't "just" that nor is it "just" a travel channel. And definitely not only hotel to hotel critiquing things. What I really like about Eric and Allison (aside from their endearing personalities) is that they really love traveling and showing where they travel and adventures they have and inspire folks to get out there, but they're not afraid to talk about a mistake they made or when travel is rough. AND they travel all over, which, as a US citizen, it's cool to see so much of my country being explored, which no doubt they'll do in the RV. While they will show their accommodations (they've stayed in some pretty dope places) or do food tours, it's more about WHERE they are. What the history is, if there is a dish that's popular or traditional for the area, interesting tidbits about the places they are, visiting not-your-typical towns or sites, etc. They've taken many road trips and it will be cool to see the RV out on the road. All the best to you, too! There are heaps of channels that focus on renovations (which, is totally awesome to see!) but definitely stick around for a bit! They have a lot of fun.

They obviously fell into a bit a niche for them by doing the RV as it's not something they normally do. All I can say is, they're good at it and they may want to rethink continuing on with projects or related project such as this as it draws in new viewship. They seem genuine and they have a good dynamic. They're also driven which is what (IMO) is getting them past some of the challenges they're facing with the build/Reno. Best,

If you’re going to road trip around Wisconsin, you should go up to northern. Wisconsin! The biggest chain of lakes in the country is the Eagle River - Three Lakes area. Super cute little towns, beautiful nature, and even a bit more north there’s a lot of waterfalls to travel to as well
