If I ever had one I'd have this colour as it reminds me of an old friend many years ago who had one, set me on course of always loving them.

I'm 57 and have owned 4 Stags in my life, they need heavy maintenance but are more reliable than modern cars.

Thanks for watching - all these old vehicles are certainly far more interesting than modern cars. Our modern vehicle is a T6 Transporter which is one of very few modern vehicles that makes any sense to us!!

@@OldCarsNewVan love the T6 very versatile.

@@centaurus5676 ours is a Shuttle - so can seat 8 - but we run it most of the time with just the front 2 seats and a removable rock & roll bed in the back - so yes, truly versatile.

For me it is a great classic - no matter if you want to call it a retro or old man. The Stag has such an amazing sound.

It was a bit of a headline grabbing little video this one😂 The Stag's development and original engine problems are an interesting historical example of the demise of the British car industry. Maia (my wife) found another Stag in a yet to be aired car show video coming soon

Super-cool. Providing the radiator doesn't boil and knacker the engine. I'm allowed to write that, because I've got a '69 Alfa. If left in the rain overnight, all that'll remain by the morning is four rubber tyres and a heap of rust.

It's a poor engine in a great car, your wrong about the rad though most of the old faults are now history but the waterpump is still the weak link, By the way I've owned three now looking for another,ha.

@@stevepoulton8826 The Stag is the most beautiful production car of that era. Enzo Ferrari only reckoned it was the E-=Type because he hadn't yet seen the Stag. I'd love one.

i agree with Maia, i love Stags. I certainly wouldn't regard them as an old mans car they are a car for anybody. I understand your point that perhaps again its a generational thing a lot of people who drive/own them are of a certain era but see past that and see it for what it is. There are not many sports/gt's that can seat 4 adults and you can get 4 in but i am not saying that it will be comfortable and you have the added T Bar roof for safety. Its a long distance cruiser but its the styling and the sound of that V8 burble. You could say Escorts and Cosworth sierras are an old mans car if you start applying that principle.

Old man, it was always an old man car even to me as a child. I'm 42 BTW! However a Triumph Dolomite Sprint I'd consider cool retro!

I must stress this is all tongue in cheek banter. But personally, I agree. The Stag always had a whiff of old man driving gloves and Werther's Original about it 🤣 Dolly Sprint - uber cool 👍 I also really like a Spitfire and the Triumph 2000 saloons. It was just the Stag........🤣

@@OldCarsNewVan yep, it definitely had that stale old man socks image! I've always been a petrolhead but always had that view of the Stag. It might be coz I always loved the TR7 and the Stag just looked old! Interestingly my Granddad actually had an orange Dolly Sprint when I was a child, so you'd think I'd have the opposite opinion, seeing as I knew an old man who drove one. Lol

@@OldCarsNewVan true! I love a Vauxhall Calibra Turbo 4x4 (mainly coz I owned one for decades and modified and restored it after taking it off the road but the chassis rot forced me to sell it). However a lot of people don't like them coz they just flatly refuse to like Vauxhall, however just a few bolt on parts and it was as fast as my current 2015 M235i. It was such a really underrated car!

A Stag old man? not in my opinion, they looked fantastic when first released and the looks are timeless. I can't see on old man that drives a Volvo buying one, but for the right driver they can still put a smile on your face. I have never owned one as i needed practicality, but i did have a mk1 and mk2 injection estates and they were plenty fast enough for me

They were comfortable reliabe cars, sadly the Mk1 had issues when i bought it when the head gasket went i decided to sell it spares or repairs then found a a prereg MK2 Injection, with no trade in i got a good deal. It had 120k on the clock when i sold it, if you serviced them correctly they were good for many miles. The interiors were far better than others, real wood and leather.@@OldCarsNewVan

My dad had a 2000 Estate mk2 from 1970 and 2500S Estate from 1976.. They were stylish and up to date at the time but the Stag was Sensational… It was timeless; even then in the 1970’s you kind of understood it was a classic even though it was a current production car… When driving one on the fast A roads with powerful computerised super e- hybrid’s It still can blend in and keep up and accelerate past slow traffic… A Fifty year old car! But it turns head’s particularly when going slow enough to look long enough and better still Parked up with the hood down on a sunny day. A work of art! ❤
@Barbarapape7 ай бұрын
I can only agree, plenty of other sport cars have come and gone, but the Stag can still hold it's own. How many other cars still look as desirable after 50 years.@@MrDodgedollar
