Today we bid farewell to the father of special forces, Col. Jan Breytenbach who funded the South African Special Forces in 1970 better known as the Racces.

Ek het die voorreg gehad om Kol Breytenbach na sy aftrede te ontmoet. Hy was 'n merkwaardige persoon. Hy was 'n man tussen manne. Nederig, geen grootheidswaansin en innemend. Was kortstondige kennis, maar hy het net die vermoeë gehad om gesag/respek nie af te dwing nie maar uit te leef.

Salute! A man amongst men. Who had the courage to say: " Se moer!" To Liam May: Never forget, that any Officer is as good as his NCO's. An Officer without NCO's or respect of those will NEVER get the besta out of his troops or unit. Just saying. No need to salute, but a "stretch" does wonders!

Yes he was a hero to many, he served his flag and country with courage and outstanding leadership. He had many medals. I suggest you get a mirror and ask yourself whether you could serve as he did. The answer will be no. You can rectify this by serving your own country and people, as Jan Breytenbach did. Denigrating a true warrior spirit on his passing is not a good idea for maintaining your health mentally and physically. Make amends or face Karma.
