As a Greek, I love when you guys take the time to report/record the history and the culture involved in these sights; not just the ruins...I really appreciate the content you create; thank you and I am now subscribed and looking forward to more!!

hahaha, we had this exact same experience with this shop owner. We were so confused, and it was a whirlwind, and we had the exact same conversation of trying to figure out what had just happened!

good video. Do you think it's possible to visit Messene and Olympia in the same day and still go to sleep in Delphi? thank you Lincoln
@TalesFromOurPocket Жыл бұрын
Thank you! To answer your question, *maybe* but it would be an incredibly long day, likely arriving to Delphi around 9 or 10pm. The drive between Messene and Olympia takes longer than Google says. Messene is so spread out (it's massive!) that it takes 3-4 hours to see. If you got there right when they opened, ate a very fast (not sit-down) lunch, went to Olympia and didn't mind driving some twisty roads (near Delphi) at night, it COULD work. I would instead stay in Olympia and drive to Delphi the next day. 😊

@@TalesFromOurPocket Thank you very much. We're going to sleep in Olympia anyway. Better. I saw your video of Momnevasia and do you think it's worth deviating from the route to spend 1 night there? In our itinerary we are going from Nafplio to Messene
@TalesFromOurPocket Жыл бұрын
It's hard to say. Monemvasia is so unique and picturesque - we haven't been anywhere else like it in Greece. If you have the time, I absolutely think it's worth spending a night there! If you do, make sure you stay in Monemvasia itself and not on the "mainland" side - with only one night, make it worth it!

No. As a Greek I don't think you can do it. It would be exhausting.

Yeah, I’m concentrating on the East, the south and Mystras on the PELOPPONESE, so Olympia is a bit far north west . I’m not going to drive it’s going to be bus and taxi. Olympia looks OK but not as good as the areas I want to visit. Also what would you give Corinth out of 10 compared to Ancient Messene out of 10.

Corinth is one of the only major ruin sites on the Peloponnese that we didn't fully explore! I will say - Messene is really in the middle of nowhere - no real town to speak of (Kalamata is the closest). Corinth, being closer to major roads, will be easier to take transport to (and less expensive). Since you don't plan to rent a car, I think I'd choose Corinth (even though Messene was one of our favorite ruins we visited).
