At 12:04 in the video you can see VERY weathered mochi steps all the way up to the top, along the edge of that side of the rock. In addition, at other sites found and restored by archeologists, ladders were routinely utilized by various ancient cultures in the '4 corners' states.

I have to agree with the consensus on here .... a ladder was something Native Americans used frequently, and it would be the most logical means of ascending to the top ... straw baskets lowered by rope, to get materials up there. I was surprised, having a drone, that you didn't use it to get images to explore the structure on top.

You guys need a drone. Would you imagine that 1000 years ago the ground level might've been higher so they didn't have to climb as high? Wind erosion, rain and flash floods could've washed away a lot of topsoil over the centuries.

Entire area including the boulder, with the cylinder structure on top, is some form of petrified gigantic tree\plant remains. You can tell by the way it cracks and erodes. It looks just like how the smaller trees or wood piles we have today crack and erode, just on a much larger scale. Looked like there may have been evidence of past ancient quarrying also. Thanks for bringing us along. Great find.
@JimofTheLionKings
@JimofTheLionKings 5 ай бұрын
@flatplaneoregon4605 Umm, no, that's not the petrified remains of a giant tree. I live on the Oregon Coast, where I have been a logger and have cut firewood all my life, and that is not the remains of a tree. I also have worked with stone and have quarried and split dump truck loads of stone. A straightforward way to tell its not a tree is the ground below it is perfectly flat. If it were a tree of that size, it would still have a tremendously large root system still in place. Go look at the Redwoods. Also, trees have verticle lines, not horizontal ones. Yes, trees have rings, but they are never visible from the outer edges, even when the bark is removed. The only way trees can become petrified while standing is if they were buried while standing and then uncovered later on. Yellowstone has a couple, but they are only partially petrified and not gigantic. They are medium-sized trunks. It would have had to been buried or uncovered during the great flood; there has only been one flood the size it would take to bury or uncover a tree of such proportions, plus it would have been ripped out of the ground if it were a real tree. The flood occurred approximately 3000 BC. If you got the idea that the wood checking pattern in wood piles looks the same way from Mr. MBB333's channel, don't listen to his nonsense. Devil Tower is a basalt volcano plug left behind after the flood removed the softer material of the outer body, leaving the basalt core in place.

Another person spoke of using a rope to be tossed over the rock and then climb it. That is a good idea. Take a light weight thinner rope, attach it to a bow and arrow and shoot one end over the rock, maybe if need be attach a rock to the one end. The other end - attach a heavier rope to the thinner one, capable of climbing with it, drag it on over and there you go - access to the tope.

Why do people think ladders are a modern invention>>> that was probably a community food storage hut and its a really good one birds and lizards are probably the only things that had a chance of raiding it with any success. Our ancestors were very good at building what they needed to survive and it wasn't much back then!!! 😊 It may well be century's old and still usable>>> show me a modern building that will do that without lots of mantince 😮 and all they had was rocks, raw wood and mud to work with>>>dieing to know what is left inside if it hasn't been looted??? Pottery, grain, stone tools, art work,rope ????

It doesn't even require a sophisticated ladder, simply a fallen tree, trim some branches off, a few people help lift and lean it at the right spot, where the rest of the climb is doable.

Perhaps use a bow/arrow to shoot a very thin, light rope over the whole rock. Use thin rope to pull a bit larger rope over, and then up to a rope strong enough to help someone to climb up. Then make and lower a rope ladder down to ground?

Have you heard of a rope ladder? You can see scuff worn away marks all the way to the top in one area. The initial climb could b accomplished with a string fired over the rock by shot or bow and a heavier rope pulled over..

Pieced together a ladder or climbed part way- and created a rope ladder. I'm guessing it was a watchtower for the tribe, or possible an emergency food cache safe from animals or human marauders. But most likely a watchtower. OR a burial or sacrifice for/of an important person.

Tom I had asked this in your last video on the suspension and never got a reply from you. What does this cost to convert a triple axle job like this? I kept thinking you would talk about that in the video. Many of us would like to know.

It looks like water once flowed very high in that canyon, that’s probably how someone was able to get up there easily. The canyon probably wasn’t as deep then.

Use a sling or a bow and arrow to shoot a string over the big rock. Then tie a rope to the string and pull it over the rock. Secure the rope and have someone climb it to the top of the rock. Then the guy on top can start hauling stuff up to build the house with.

Awesome find! Wow....no idea how that was built, how they got up to it or why. Amazing video! @ 14:24.....as soon as she says "it"..... If you quickly click pause and forward as if through each millisecond, you will see a flash of light appear above the structure. Maybe that is what they hear from the passing speed of it.

Tourists,,,do you think ladders might have been used, that structure is at least 10,000 years old, inhabited more recently, but definitely Paleolithic,,,critters that were big and ate people, hostile clans of people,,,dinosaurs,,,i have trekked that area, there are dozens of cliff dwellings all along the way to that tower,,,the lower structure was vandalized by artifact hunters,,,

It was a spiritual place, perhaps a sweat lodge. It was built up high on a place where no animals or evil spirits could get to them while they were in meditation or prayer.

I'm going to guess, that they simply stood on each other's shoulders, and then passed up those rocks one at a time.
