Every time I see Hamish my heart skips a beat. Poppy is adorable and makes me smile at her alertness and energy - but my heart belongs to Hamish ❤. Great vlog as usual with the perfect choice of music and great views. Thank you Caroline and Pete for taking me with you on your adventures. xx

I also agree 100 % with this comment. Hamish reminds me of my old dog jock which he was also a west highland white terrier who died on the 18th August 2010 at the age of 15 year old

You are so welcome Jill! Its always lovely to hear that you've enjoyed the vlogs. Hamish has always held a very special place in our hearts too, right from the moment we rescued him. He hadn't had the best start in life, and we were so thankful to be able to give him a good home with an older brother Jasper, and now his crazy sister Poppy, living thine best lives as boat dogs. She certainly keeps him young 😊

We moored overnight in Evesham a couple of summers back (the really hot one) on the 48 hour moorings just down from where you moored. Not a problem at all. The only problem we had was leaving the following morning with a single skull rower not looking where they were going and nearly taking us from behind! Love the video's and giving me some great ideas of where to head out to next

I know that part of the river VERY well! We live near Pershore, and in the 80s I worked for Evesham Marina. One of the more unusual jobs I did was skipper a 65ft boat up the river to Offenham lock and return, while those on board carried out a Hindu funeral! (We did these suprisingly often!) I don't think the anglers appreciated the ashes and fruit (plus coconuts!) that went overboard from the front cockpit!!!..😂😂

That power off demonstrated that you have a singing prop..... You would think that propeller manufacturers would detune their propellers as part of the manufacturing process. The guys that have the electric narrowboat had their singing prop adjusted and what a difference. You might want to consider doing something. That said, I really enjoy your vlog...seen every episode and your your dogs are great. Happy travels from Florida!

@ We went via the Black Hills and saw Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse on our way. We very much enjoyed the Black Hills region. We then went as far east as Rochester Minnesota then south to Houston. I think we have seen enough cornfields to last us a lifetime time🤪 altogether the trip will be 6,300k. We have managed to tick off some states and only have 13 to visit which are mostly on the eastern seaboard. Yeah, most of our Canadian friends are asking why we took this route - it was so we could visit a number of our friends before we move back to Australia. It is one of those very sad farewell tours knowing you won’t see them again.

Glad you love those black and white to colour transitions Susan! Some photos are just perfect for it. I guess my hobby is photography, which has been for quite a few years, and now making videos! I've have tried to learn to crochet but I'm very slow and keep forgetting. Pete's hobby is tinkering around and building things. Not so much now we are on a boat, but when we lived on a house he was really good at fixing things like the washing machine, which saved us loads of money, and building a covered patio for the garden, and fitted wardrobes etc. Hope you and your mum are keeping warm 😊

Rivers have the best houses and gardens. Prime real estate, but build way back and/or way up high! The tours of the two towns were very nice and I loved the flowers since those times are over for now. Places get bad reputations and they spread but when things are better the word never seems to get out. Funny how that works. 🤔

Happy Thanksgiving Dorothy! We are thankful for your lovely comments each week and support of our channel! Some absolutely beautiful homes on the River Avon, and like you say, very wisely built up and back from the rising river levels. There have been some horrendous floods in the UK in the past couple of weeks thanks to Storm Bert, but luckily we weren't in the hardest hit area, and were safe. It has made us never want to be on a river in winter though. Like you saw, we wanted to dispel that myth of Evesham being a not so safe place to stop, because you're right, people don't shout about the positives so much! 😊

Hi. What drone do you use, and is it affected by the metal of the boat? (Assuming you use the boat as the take off area?).
@onedaymoreaboard
@onedaymoreaboard 2 күн бұрын
Hi, we use a DJI Mini 3 Pro. We have heard about issues with the steel hull interfering with drones and so always take off and land from the tow path. We did one time try to land on the boat stern whilst moving and the drone did play up so probably true about interference. Haven’t risked it since. Hope this helps 😊

I'm taking a break from my Thanksgiving preparations and what a relaxing one your vlog makes with those interesting land- & waterscapes and your always charming selections of music. Did you get into Thanksgiving in TX? Are you ever tempted to recreate it? ...tho I'm not sure a narrow boat is the ideal spot to prepare such a feast. Glad we can provide some respite and relaxation from the Thanksgiving craziness Rainey! We have been celebrating Thanksgiving for many years in various countries. Alex and Sophie were born in Indiana, so a few years there, and then during our time in Singapore they were at the Singapore American School where Thanksgiving was a wonderfully lavish event shared with so many other expat families, who embraced our Britishness! Then on to Texas, where again, we have some lovely memories with friends and neighbours, and then back to the the UK and our first narrowboat Thanksgiving with Pauline and Derek on Silver Fox who had just moved back from many years in Chicago. We typically get a turkey crown (full turkey minus the legs) that just about fits in our tiny oven, and recreate American sides as best we can! Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are so thankful for this amazing international community that we have created that join us on our narrowboat travels 😊 🦃 🍁

@@onedaymoreaboard I'm a fan of the Ruth Goodman/Alex Langlands/Peter Ginn living history documentaries so I know that historically there have been harvest feasts. But I don't know how or if they've translated to modern British culture. Anyway, we've been migrants in our own time and I know some cultural artifacts want to "stick". I really admire the conviction to make a narrowboat turkey feast work. It takes me a week, my entire kitchen and most of the equipment I have to pull off. ; >

We did love cruising on the River Avon, but do miss the convenience of being to stop and moor up mostly anywhere like on the canals, especially with the dogs when on rivers. Thanks for watching 😊

Well this is England and you can stop on the canal . But you need to be safe, so who is making it not safe . ? and if so ,the police need to dam well get out of their cars and keep a eye out for the people that do people harm or boats.
