SC is a particularly troubled state. the vast majority of the population there are direct descendants of the confederate soldiers and former slaves that lived there. most people there can trace their lineage to specific freedmen and confederate soldiers. the black population is sick and tired of the abuse they have suffered, and they still do continue to suffer. at the same time those people are working hard to reverse the scars of government enshrined racism, many of the descendants of confederate soldiers are fed the lies of the lost cause, they become members of the sons and daughters of the confederacy, and they continue to practice hatred in their hearts and actions. I lived there for 5 years, both during the 2015 church shooting, and again during the George Floyd protests. it always felt like walking on eggshells everywhere you went. the museums there still push messages that slavery was beneficial for slaves, and that it wasn't harmful to the millions of enslaved people. the sons and the daughters of the confederacy still meet in downtown Charleston and wave their hateful flags. the descendants of the wealthiest slave traders are still deeply involved in the government and are major business and land owners. its a place that needs healing and needs a reality check.

If you actually look at the data. Which you haven't. You'll see the data that Luke is citing lists "children" as people aged 1-19 years old. Per the CDC. The last time I checked, 18 and 19 year olds are not children. Legally. However, it became EXTREMELY politically convenient for the Democrats to extend "child" ages so they could cite this made-up study. Once you remove the 18 and 19 year old and account for all tragedies like suicide gun deaths among children, the total amount of gun deaths for children is not the #1 killer. It's motor vehicle accidents. If we as a country want to have discussions about universal background checks, national gun registries, and the culture around guns, then that seems like a good idea. However, as usual, Pakman and Luke are simply lying so they can get their clip to make Trump supporters look stupid.
