Nice purchase! I think you should keep the plane just how it is.... Having built and owned several Lancair 320/360 aircraft, this looks to be very well cared for!

As for the color, it's not the best. It's like Henry Ford said; you can have any color as long as it's black. With Composites you can paint it any color as long as it's white. I remember Richard and I were out at my hangar at Coronado airport, which is now closed. I had built a Velocity and painted it white. I told him pink wasn't the best color. He had his red Corvette, and I had my white Benz, it was 10 am, and I told him to touch each car. He couldn't believe how much hotter his car was.

I remember that lancair @KLVK also. I kinda surprised it's still pink after all these years! There was talk JP was interested in building a Legacy after this but that never came about. He was active in RC.

The only time that plane was out of the hanger was when we flew it to Oshkosh, and tied it down in Fond Du Lac for 3 days.

that plane has massive, SUN faded paint and that is a major red flag for UV deteriorated composites and composite layer bonding/ I would not fly that thing at any price.

really? it's simply got a layer of dust on it, and it's spent all it's life hangared. So I rather doubt your armchair analysis :)

@@trueairspeed130 I guarantee that plane was not hangered all its life. IT was hangered maybe a year before you bought it at best. That thing say outside in the sun for decades and good luck. You are not going to live. Its junk. I bet an Ultrasound will show delamination in the mid layers everywhere. My armchair analysis is better than your best A&P I/A you can hire. After more than 20 yrs as NASA Scientist, I know what I see. I see UV faded paint and the composits have to be in bad shape

What on earth are you on, it’s been hangared at Cutter aviation in Albuquerque for the last 20yrs and by the original builder before that and we have all that history documented. Where is this coming from? Have you seen this airplane upfront in person?

@@trueairspeed130 you talk like a street thug. What kind of person accuses a scientist of being on drugs. Look buster you will die in that plane. Research shows Carbon fiber composites deteriorate more than 50% from just a few months UV/ . That research is on compressed composites using UV blockers too, These things were hand made by people and not any form of compression on the layers. Right now Lancair 320 have a high accident rate that is disproportionate and drawing FAA concerns. Read the literature. You made an uninformed buy and it is going to kill you or that nice lady. Thats a fact. I dont care what you say about hanger, it not true. That paint is UV faded and any one who has ever painted can see it. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9029308/

I think the only thug here is you trying to bully your opinion onto others without actually seeing an airplane in person or knowing the facts such as this airplane has been hangared all its life just like so many other composite airplanes. So I don’t know what your agenda is unless it’s just to vent. Nonetheless, In the spirit of thanks giving I do genuinely thank you for your comments as they help the video visibility and wish you all best.
