I've been a casual player (re: my power level and build sucks) for maybe a year or two...getting into the game late meant I was already YEARS behind the average player, so the fact I have to start over at level 1 again every couple of months at first didnt sit right with me since I'm always so far behind I felt like I'd quickly fall behind in the season and perhaps not even finish it in time... this makes me feel a bit better as I dont really do much PvP content due to my bad builds and if everyone is a lower level like me maybe I wont feel so bad?

It cleared alot of questions up but honestly I may be alone in this opinion but I think the shd levels were a bad idea in general for the game and their balancing issues, if they capped it at 100 or capped it at the point you got all the stats maxed and just give you crafting, weapon or exotic caches once you've hit the max level then that would have been better and most likely would have curbed the outrage people are having about their 10k plus shd level characters also I'm still not on board with their new themed seasons I don't use mmrs or smgs but if they make those the focus of the season or if they make a certain gear set the focus and your starting at level 1 then it feels like they are forcing you to "try" what they want

I have to say this is a big mistake as the players who have supported this game over the years do NOT want to start over. Hundreds of hours have been spent developing a character that we enjoy playing. I am NOT interested in GRINDING another character, REPEAT NOT INTERESTED in grinding another character eac;h season. This is fing stupid and another example of the DEV's not listening to their fanbase. The whole process is a cluster truck. Way to fing complicated. I play the game to relax, not this crap. Why in heavens name would you want to add so much complexity to the game? Work your butt off to level your seasonal character to 40 only to have to repeat it again the next season, WHY?

My agent fought his way to the capital, spilt blood on Rosevelt Island, fought along side good friends at district union, rescued countless hostages around DC and NY, fought hunters, searched and destroyed HVT’s, and enjoyed the company of other agents in raids and incursions. Countless hours of countdown searching for the one needle in the haystack piece of gear, hours upon hours of grinding for exotics and now you want me to bench my agent for a Cherry, a FNG! I’m not sure I’m down with this.

I will leave the game after 5 years of playing and almost at 5000 SHD level. I will not leave my character behind to play with a low level character and grind all the way only to dump that character when the next season drops. It’s been fun I’m done.

Do you really rather keep playing the same character with everything maxed to the point that loot is useless, there's no progress and no challenge in any difficulty? Because that's what actually is killing the game: high levels have nothing to play for. With this, they will have.

It is ludicrous if they think that our topped out characters are the reason to the problem with balance they are kidding theirselves. Also we will get maybe a month of our own characters in the mix and then another season will come and out primary will get benched again. Honestly every reason they have given as to why this is a good thing in their eye has really not been founded on anything but non-backed up facts. As much as I love this game this will be what drives me alway. In the end we will have the same power base on the top end and ends up where we are left currently. This will not make any new ways we play the game different. It’s all still the same as the seasonal stuff is now but also adding in seasonal characters so it’s all completely unnecessary and a huge waist of time and resources and the resources could have been put toward getting the dlc out quicker or div 3 done.

The fact that ~95% of the playerbase has been playing on maxed out characters for the past two years is quite literally the problem with the game. What is the point of new DLCs if we are just going through the DLC on the same, maxed out, overpowered character? We beat the DLC then we are right back where we are now. Nothing left to do or grind. Seasons 2.0 will constantly keep the game feeling fresh which no DLC or new content will do.

Who knows? Maybe it will be fun. It doesn't seem like Massive be giving us any choice but to give it a chance at this stage anyway. I was an avid Battlefield (DICE/EA) player for years. If you think the Division 2 has issues then you don't know Battlefield. I completely lost all patience with EA/DICE a few years ago and found i really prefer the Division 2. One of the suggestions i would make to the devs at Massive would be to maybe do a limited "test server" like EA/Dice did. So the devs could see first hand what the community thinks. "People don't know what they want until they find out what they can have". Paraphrased from a speech by Steve Jobs. Peace and love. Pray for war!

So this explains why my recent new character got .her watch when she hit 40 and had NOT finished the WoNY campaign. What annoys me is, I was not given the choice whether I wanted her as a Seasonal Character or not - I think you should be given the choice. I am not happy about a Seasonal Character being forced on me. The fact she got her watch immediately means our new characters are made Seasonal if you like it, or not.

Seasonal Characters are not in the game yet- that option won't open until Year 6 Season 2 in October. Your character is a main character, but got access to the Watch because of the new "One Endgame" feature implemented with this latest update/Season. excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is the point of merging exp/shd levels and whatnot with my main, if it's only usable during the last 2 weeks of what? a 3 months season? that's a "no thanks" from me. and yes, i have watched the video, that answer at roughly 9:00 is stupid. if the main character is locked out of the whole storyline content and everything during a 3 month season for all but the last 2 weeks, it's virtually pointless in my view.

I think I'm going to have to tap out after this season. This series has been my absolute favorite, but this seasonal character stuff is just a bad remedy to fixing a problem they had. I hopped off of Destiny 4 years ago. Maybe it's time to go back. They seem to understand what they are and what the game is, and they seem to value the players' time better than this mess. I'm still going to watch RG's videos, though.

True destiny never did have sesonal character BUT the community started to complain that the new content was too easy. And the only way for Bungie to remedy this problem was to make the campaign missions harder. Div 2 is facing the same problem and you dont really have an easy way to fix it, so while i understand their decision to make the experience fresh.

I don't have FOMO so I can just grind way with my main while other people are playing the seasonal content with their new agents and then in the final two weeks of the season I'll just slam the seasonal content with my main. It's not like there's really *that* much content in any given season to begin with.

I have a job and family so while I have loved the franchise since D1’s launch, I think my time with this franchise has come to an end. I don’t have unlimited time to grind new characters over and over again

My wife & I both work full-time and we have two kids so I feel ya. I don't see myself creating new seasonal agents season-in/season-out but what I can see myself doing is just grinding away my main agent like normal on the existing content and then in the final two weeks of the season just focusing on the new seasonal content with my main. It's not like there's really that much content in any given season to begin with so I think two weeks is adequate time to complete the new stuff with a high-level agent. One thing I love about the Division series is there's so much to do irregardless of seasonal content. I understand it can get stale over time but I love the series enough to where even 450+ hours in I still absolutely love the game (Division 2). I still do Survival in D1 too. Seasonal content is just a side dish to me.

So game design is not as easy as you're making it out to be every time they balance it the community finds a way to make a meta that breaks the game (RPM glitch, Double Companion glitch, Shotgun meta, XP farming glitch)...and people would only use that...forcing them to take action and suspend or band some players because some people would use the exploits to cheat in the game. I'm not saying that season 2.0 is going to permanently stop glitches to happen but what it is doing is putting everybody on the same playing field...so people aren't so op they are burning through the seasons track in a few hours. New players need some love too... imagine you're a new player you've reached level 40 and have made the perfect build that give you the balls to take on some of the games toughest content or go into the dark zone, only to be kicked because your level is too low or you don't have a high enough expertise lvl and get Molly wopped in the dz...and then turn around and see that it's gonna take you a long time to get to the higher lvls...would you stick around!? If you love the challenge then maybe... But most players won't and at the end of the day it is a business so they have to treat it as such while entertaining the masses. Seasons 2.0 is not that bad as everybody is making it out to be, it's just an overreaction in my opinion...

@@dylanmelotti4301I agree that things like resolve and a bunch of other great stuff they added got backlash that wasn’t warranted, but this season character feature IS a terrible idea, and one that nobody wanted. The developers for this game tend to ignore the community (with the exception of project resolve) and add and change and twist mechanics that weren’t broken. The removing of legacy systems for example, was an awesome change. Those were BROKEN and unnecessary features. Our main character being the center of our attention, the story’s attention, the harborer of most loot, and overall most important thing in the game was a system that wasn’t broken, being changed for no other reasons besides incompetence and failure to balance the game. Simply my take on this feature is “if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” and they’re doing a WHOLE lot of fixing shit that ain’t broken.

So heres a SHD watch level to gain power. Grind 1000 for it. Now heres an expertise system. Grind EVERY item and weapon to gain power with them. Now all of it meant nothing cause you're too powerful now. Start at level 1 with stock gear. Don't worry. The one who is your main you will still be able to play with for the last 2 of the 15 week season. I hope all these new players will buy your season passes and dlc. I've played this game from the start but hat means nothing to Ubisoft. I sure as hell will not spend anymore money on this game.

You yourself acknowledged you get powerful via perfect gear and SHD rank so what are you doing when a new season comes out? You have perfect gear and high SHD rank. Most of the time new gear they add sucks so what realistically are you doing?It’s boring you start the season with a near perfect character with nothing to do but farm levels for a season pass that’s 99% cosmetics and trash. That's better than playing with main character all the time (which doesn't make you stronger because you have everything already). Now there will be again a feeling of progress, the loot will be actually useful again, and it's a good challenge to face strong enemies with a not so strong character at the start of the season.

I can't stand the thought of implementing a seasonal character model for a variety of reasons but at least we get to crush the new seasonal content with our mains in the final two weeks of each season. I just hope they don't give out special awards for seasonal characters that we'll be unable to claim with our mains during that time.

I think one of the biggest issues here is that the developers are implementing something quite extensive & confusing that nobody asked for. But they haven’t (or never will) add/fix things that are smaller and likely easier to do on their end that the community has been talking about for years in some cases.

@@whysoslow1999 A massive disadvantage to....what, exactly? It's an almost exclusively PvE game. It's not like we're expecting new players to get matchmaked into PvP lobbies with SHD watch lvl 15,000+ agents. A new player starts from scratch, tackles the content at a difficulty level they're good with and as they level up they can start increasing the difficulty level to match their skills. They're not at a disadvantage because it matters not one iota how quickly RG can destroy the seasonal content. It's a PvE-focused experience that suits solos and group-play alike.

DZ is a no-go zone for new players even if they get a good build going - an experienced player will easily have 30-40% extra damage and armor just through expertise and watch leveling. New players get kicked from Heroic countdown and other actually hard content for the very same reason. It sucks that the small community the game has left is such a veteran circlejerk that the devs simply do not have a way out of that issue without upsetting the players.

I think its kinda stupid that you can only play your main char 6 weeks out of the year . The grind is officially FOR NOTHING. There is zero advantage to having a 20k SHD level character to use only a few days every 4 months.

Definitely would have been nice to get some details on the modifiers, but I expect we'll maybe see a demonstration of Y6S2's specific modifiers during those live presentations they reference. As far as stash/inventory goes- the items on your Seasonal character will be transferred to an "interim" storage space. You then have as much time as you want to sift through that, and decide what to keep, donate, sell, etc. in accordance with however much room you have on your main. You will need to empty the interim storage before making a new Seasonal Character for the next Season, though

Just my opinion. If anyone feels differently that’s fine. Personally I didn’t hear a thing that makes me want to start a new agent and regrind the campaign every season. I hate starting over and the time investment I have in my main character is substantial. That is me in this game. That’s the character that did all the stuffs! Shelving that character as a requirement to experience new content and get rewarded is a bit of a slap in the face. I also see them trying to spin it like your main character is still relevant as straight up gaslighting. You drop your character, all its perfected builds and massive investment of time and effort for 15 weeks just to pick it up again and the end for an intermission before the next season starts?!?! I’m not gonna do it. That’s it for me. I bought the seasons pass for season 1 and I’m not even gonna finish it. No real point. Met some great gamers in this community, many were generous and helpful when I was learning the game. All of you take care. Time for me to move on.

I can get the opinion but just wanted to clarify some things... 1. They already stated that you will not have to do the campaign and the seasonal characters get a huge boost to EXP to grind lvl 40 really quickly. 2. They already stated the seasonal characters stuff will transfer to the main character during the intermission so your time isn't wasted. You are just utilizing a different way of play that will allow them to focus down into a point of making content more engaging because they can fine-tooth comb it with more understanding where the player character is in its progression. 3. The main game is still going to be around. Finish your seasonal content? Go back to your main character and play the same way you always have. Once its all done you get all your progress and work on the seasonal character put right in to your character. I get the concern and the feeling of betrayal as it isn't what we wanted but, I will still say to at least give it a shot. If it flops harder than a brick. Go find enjoyment elsewhere but don't give up before you even try.

Its level 1, albeit with accelerated levelling and as of yet unspecified gameplay modifiers Your main character will only be of use for the two week intermission period after a 15 week season. That in my view makes the main character next to useless. Can’t experience any new content with it until a small window at the end. Also, why would I care if the stuff transfers to my main agent at the end when I can only use it during a 2 week intermission period anyway? A literal 2 weeks out of 17. Yes, the old game will still be there but any meaningful progression through the story will be walled off behind seasonal characters. I understand what a seasonal character model is. I don’t need to try this one to know I don’t like it. Also, it’s a 15 hour grind to do the campaign over even with be accelerated levelling. 3 times longer than it takes me to do a mule in WONY, which I got sick of doing really fast. Great if you’re stoked for this, but I’m not. I won’t be doing it. I’ll run some stuff this season with the one or two active clan members that are left in my group and then it’s time to retire my agent.

@@barooboodoo you’re still grinding the campaign over and over each season. Levelling will be faster and maybe you don’t have to complete every stronghold at the end if you manage to hit 40 before that, but it’s still the same campaign missions as before and judging by what they said it’s going to be most of them. Again, I’m not sure what the game modifiers are going to be that are supposed to make this interesting but I’m skeptics. WONY takes me about 5ish hours to run a mule. The payout with watch points is significant, but even with that I just can’t motivate myself to play it anymore. They’re saying 15 hours to get through the seasonal character campaign run. 3X longer than a WONY run. I know myself well enough to know I’ll get sick of that pretty quickly. I liked TD2’s campaign well enough. Good but not amazing and I certainly never saw it as infinitely repayable. Seasonal characters just aren’t for me. It’s nothing I ever would have asked for and it seems like the majority of the community agrees. I was waiting to see what they did with seasons 2.0 to decide if I would stick with the game or not, now that I know I think it’s time to retire my agent.

I'm more okay with seasonal characters if there's lore reasons but I still hate it. Teenagers with nothing else to do and content creators may still use their main characters but most people with jobs or kids will just end up never using their main character. Why would I care about things being transferred to my main from the seasonal character if most of the time I'm using the seasonal character anyway and I can only use my new stuff on the final mission of the manhunt? Seems like a lot of people with busier lives are just gonna drop the game

Yeah we have a bullshit flag on the play. They broke the seasons system so bad that they are now going to break everything that isn't broken. First they saturate the game with more gear than you can shake a stick at. Then they create an "expertise" system to make said gear more powerful. Now they complain that the game isn't balanced when players are playing by the rules laid out. They could just as easy lifted the level 40 lock on manhunts and seasons and scaled it like the rest of the game. Nah that would have been to easy. So in order to create less interesting and better content for the end. They are going to create less content that they can control with seasonal character levels. Which to me screams half ass content. They may have heard the community but they don't care about it, This is just more "Gamers need to get used to not owning their games" remember that comment? I do. They are saying that you either play the way we want you to or we punish you. Which they are. All the people who have grinded for 100's of hours sucks to be you. Instead of scaling the game we are going to punish you by making you start over every time all in the name of balancing the game. Here is how seasonal characters are going to play out from past experience with their grand ideas. It is going to take 15 hours to reach level 40 again and again and again. But the new missions will drop an agonizingly slow ace so you have to wait on it. Once it does drop It will just be another rehash of another mission which you have done so many times you can do it in your sleep. (minimum effort by the devs) which you will have completed in less time then it takes to log in. Back to waiting, repeat slow progress until the end of the season. IF you want to get the global event rewards you now have to grind two characters. Instead of making better end game content that would interest the player base they make you grind for a mythical unicorn piece of gear. Not to mention that they can not roll out an update without breaking some mechanics in the game.. Every season they have to fix something. How to you think this Seasons 2.0 is going to work? It wont, This is just lack of giving a damn, I am thinking I am done with the franchise and I have been here since the release of the first one. But what do you expect from a company who logo is a top down view of the poop emoji.

Would've been cool for them to add these modifiers to the season in away that lets us use our existing characters. @@jaydodsworth6316 The game needs regular seasonal wipes. Plain and simple. The devs want to extend the life cycle for The Division 2 right up to the releases of The Division 3. With the current model, that is just not possible. Many long term players are burned out with nothing left to do and it's been that way for over two years. Main characters are not obscelete if people actually read the notes for seasons 2.0. If fact, with all of the looter shooters that do regular character wipes, The Division 2 has a far better approach that ties in our seasonal and main character together. Unlike other games, where every players character is just straight up wiped.

What I want to know is who spends 90% of their play time in the 4 months of a season playing “seasonal content”? If I add up all the time it takes to finish the story missions and the rewards track it’s probably around 2 maybe 3 weeks. Ya I do the occasional global event also. But the majority of the remaining 3+ months are spent just messing about outside of seasonal content and responding to backup requests. My only true grind now is expertise which I can work on outside of seasons anyway. Sounds like I’m in the minority but the lore of my character in the story is not a big deal to me. Fun and challenging gameplay is. We need a change maybe this will work maybe not. But I’m going to give it a shot at least. Besides I’m always running new mules, that could be what a seasonal ends up replacing for me.

So what happens if we miss a season or don't complete the season? What if we don't have time within the intermediate 2 weeks to transfer loot? Do we lose it once the next season starts and ends? Non of what they said changes the fact that you'll have grind a new character in the same old locations. I don't wanna start a new character... And the loot? Will the only relevant loot be at lvl 40? 15 hours of irrelevance? With 15 hrs I might be able to min max one of my main character's build. Regarding the transfer storage- you can keep it there as long as you like. The only condition is that you need to clear it out before you can start a new Seasonal Character for the next Season that activates

I literally must be the only person who is just going to see how it goes before I make a judgement on this change. People are acting like their main character is going to be wiped out permanently. The devs aren't wrong when they say that some elements of the game have grown stale. I'm looking forward to playing some new content. I've restarted the campaign a few times on alt characters including getting my hardcore character to 500, its refreshing.

You won't miss out on anything by not being active during those 2 weeks. Those periods are just when *everybody* will be on mains, since Seasonal is rotated out, and those are the first opportunities for main characters to access the gear/content released that Season

@@RogueGold you didn’t, what i meant was what if those who just wanna wait for their main to be available is unable to during that time and do they miss out on the loot or does the seasonal stuff get added to the game base like focused loot for the gear set or chance at exotic. Or is that loot solely for the season it seems like the loot gathered from the season would be available to main once completed but didn’t see it stated or missed them confirming after the season is over the gear would drop normally. I love the lore for division however I don’t have the time to regrind everything just to enjoy the new lore. Stuff like this turns me away because I just don’t have the ability to grind like that all over again. I played Diablo but honestly stopped after 2 resets because I just don’t like the idea of grinding my way back up to enjoy the new story. This is what I feel like is happening and it honesty sucks. I don’t have the best meta build but I get by in high level tier content I got lucky with division groups to run me through raids. I enjoy getting on and running missions or doing the season pass as is. Now I have to grind up enough to play this new stuff just leaves a sour taste. So if I can wait for the final two weeks to burn through on my main I will just hope I don’t miss out on anything. I also wish it was more than 2 weeks.

These are my quick thoughts about. It is not incentivising the playing time, IMHO. Seems to being doing the opposite. Main character is only the 10% of the time. An Season can be done in 15 hours. For one 15 week season is it meaning to be done 1 hour by week? So the rest of the time is the same actual stuff? But only for that 2 weeks by season, right? So, this means that it is going to be a big gap between season and rest of the activities? And if seasonal character contributes to main character, why to go to a clean new character and not a main character downgrade to clean level for veteran players characters. Is it going to be like descent? Not having freedom to use what you have but that they give you? I am going to wait more news, but it is greatly breaking stuff. It has the benefit of doubt because it is my favourite game, but from now I think is not the best for the game. I understand the idea. The problem is the time and directions that they have left the game going other ways. And I don't have the certainty that it would attract new players (it is a 6 years old game, and they would need a good marketing campaign because it is not going to be a trending topic). Let's wait and see. From now, I am less move to play because at the end the things that now move me (expertise and looting) are going to be irrelevant (I don't play PvP) as they're only going to be useful 10% of the time in the main part of season (and strange passing form the seasonal to main character. It seems like cheating)

Haha, like the hard players wont power a seasonal character to 40 in an afternoon, farm the gearset they like in countdown or summit and go right to work, I know I could do it.

Imo definitely less receptive. It actually makes me concerned about division 3. Seasonal characters reminds me of heartland character selection. Which I am concerned they will bring to division 3. Mmo rpg are about personal character development. I don't want to play random characters.

To be fair they have not explicitly clarified this- but my guess/understanding is that we get to fully customize each Seasonal Character, they're not preset

I don't even consider this an "Endgame rework" its we're basicaly making you restart every season and calling it an "endgame rework" nothing is actually "reworked" besides the seasons. Oh your seasonal characters stuff tranafers at the end? Then what is the point besides making it seem like a rework when its just a desperate move that makes it seem like they did more work than they actually did.

In hindsight, I think the "Endgame Revamp" discussed at Division Day 2023 was the "One Endgame" feature that got implemented into the game last week with Y6S1. Everything coming with Y6S2 is purely the Seasons 2.0 part of things

Well one of the last good Ubisoft games is leaving us soon. I look forward to playing the character i spent so long with for 2 weeks every 3 months. Gonna have to tell my friend's not to bother getting invested with there characters cause they wont be able to experience anything new with them in a few months.

Womp womp you can’t get carried by your SHD rank bonuses and perfect gear. You actually have to play the game now I know you can’t just start every season with nothing to do thanks to having a perfect character and nothing to do. @zaiyas1408 it's not the gear or SHD levels I care about. I personally play mostly with meme builds and haven't collected most of the SHD levels I got to keep it challenging. My problem is loosing the ability to continue the story with my character that's one of the last thing I have to remember my 2 friends who got me into the game who both lost there lives a few years ago. It was this character that saved my life when I was at my lowest, using him to remember them. It is the character that I use to bring new friends into the hobby. It not just me who's attached there there main, a lot of people who are emotionally attached to them and boil all those emotions and memories down to just "skill issues" is insulting.

Thanks for the info! I think it does look like they didn't switched to seasonal characters just to follow trends, but actually put some thought into how it'll work. As someone playing from day 1 I'm curious to see the result. Current grind is enjoyable but mostly thanks to great core gameplay, and it wasn't exiting for a while, just something to play with brain switched off. I hope for the best at least

Yes, seasonal characters still look fancier way for the resource mule process. Honestly, I would be more happy if this system had meta progression. - Like for each agent that we prepared and transferred (disposed of), we received a unique resource/currency, for a similar system with the watch or a wide pool of unique rewards. Not specialized boxes that are available in the Season Pass and modes vendors (Global Event, Countdown, Desent), and not just a couple of costumes, but a completely separate huge pool of rewards. Like, for example, Deep Rosk Galactic season passes or Helldivers warbonds, and all this is always available for opening and does not disappear at the end of the season. - Or create a unit that can be sent on missions on a global map (USA or planet), as in some mobile games, for individual unique rewards. - Well, and the opportunity to create a companion bot. Well, the plot justification is already clear; rather, we will act as an instructor in training a new wave of agents or their number in the war with the Black Tusks.
