I often think of the roadies/crew when I attend a concert. It is their hard work that allows the artist to be their very best at a live performance. And it’s all done for us, the fans. In the 70’s Jackson Browne’s song called The Load Out was a tribute to those who are the roadies. In the 80’s the band Journey made a documentary of crew and roadies, and what it takes to go on tour. Going from city to town, each venue different from the one before. The film was called Frontiers and Beyond. So watching this short film, and seeing how quickly that they were able to put it all together was short of a miracle. Congratulations to all of those who went above and beyond. It truly takes a village. God bless all of you.

I used to be a local hand in Nashville setting up concerts at Bridgestone Arena and Municipal Auditorium and the like. I am incredibly impressed with how quickly they were able to get all this up and show ready. With most shows that came through, we would get them fully set in 4-5 hours, sometimes 6 (usually done by 1pm either way) but the rest of the day is super important too. All the sound checks and getting everything just right will usually last right up to doors. Squeezing the whole process into 4 hours is insane.

A few years ago I helped set up a outside country concert here in Henderson, KY. We had four bands. The stage arrived on Thursday morning, concert was September Friday night. Stage, sound got set up on Thursday. Friday morning bands got set up and each did a sound check. At 6 pm a thunder storm with lighting moved thru and the show got canceled. All equipment got put back int the trucks and trailer, stage was taken down. We finished at 3 am Saturday morning. I made very good money for that work, but was disapointed. I worked setup at several bars, but have since stopped.

Setting up for a show can be so stressful! I've only ever helped set up very small concerts in ny hogh school auditorium in my Junior year of hogh school, but I have some glimpse of how stressful this can be. My hat is off to Luke, Joel, and their whole crew! I admire what they do so much!!! My mom was at the show in Tulsa last night and she texted me that fK&C was pinch hitting for a band who couldn't make it while I was finishing an edit of my favorite of their songs(Seasons). I was so jealous! I love them so much!!!❤❤❤
