The modern warm period should peak below the MWP since the Holocene is definitively cooling. If it doesn't, we can deduce there has been some mild, beneficial CO2 warming. Which is very good because the next LIA is due to be worse than the last. And the Holocene itself is due to end and the next glacial period begin. But no piddling CO2 warming will be able to help us then.

I have even more worries about the oceans, then. must watch: at 21:45 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIrOYqeYibCejKs the diagram is revealing that on planet Earth more than 60% of all deep oceans are at or below a temperature of 4°C. Is this cold water a remnant of our last ice age(s)? Would the next, coming in 10000 years, ice age potentially freeze the whole ocean? Down to the bottom? The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and ... 4°C is close to freezing temp, it doesn't take much. A third Snowball-earth could be much more apocalyptical than the First and Second at about 700E6 years ago. Back then the ocean bottom was probably getting more geologic heating from the mantle! @@skynetsworld After rising rapidly during the first part of the 20th century, global average temperatures did cool by about 0.2°C after 1940 and remained low until 1970, after which they began to climb rapidly again. The mid-century cooling was due to a high concentration of sulphate aerosols in the atmosphere, emitted by industrial activities and volcanic eruptions. Sulphate aerosols have a cooling effect on the climate because they scatter light from the Sun, reflecting its energy back out into space. The rise in sulphate aerosols was largely due to the increase in industrial activities at the end of the second world war. In addition, the large eruption of Mount Agung in 1963 produced aerosols which cooled the lower atmosphere by about 0.5°C, while solar activity levelled off after increasing at the beginning of the century The clean air acts introduced in Europe and North America reduced emissions of sulphate aerosols. As levels fell in the atmosphere, their cooling effect was soon outweighed by the warming effect of the steadily rising levels of greenhouse gases.

Probably an increase from the lowest point we have had for the last 10,000 years and this means that it will be very hard indeed to prove whether the increase in temperatures in the 20th century was manmade or its natural variation. That will be very hard because we made ourselves an extremely poor experiment. "I decided then - and I discussed this with Lars [Oxfeldt Mortensen] - that as a scientist I should not cherry-pick my interlocutors based on their political views," he continued. "I stand by what I said in Lars Oxfeldt's film 20 years ago, but I did not and do not agree with his interpretations." "This film, made 20 years ago, does not reflect the current state of science. In 2001, the IPCC wrote that it was 'likely' that warming was caused by humans. For a scientist, there may well have been reason to be cautious. But science has advanced greatly since then, and today there is no longer any doubt.

There are differing opinions here, as to the veracity of the video and its contents. This is the unfortunate result of having branded science. We have developed a distasteful paradigm where you can pay a scientist to say almost anything and that is a real shame. Corporate intervention into science and politics is destroying the world. Yes, this video appears to be from 1998 but the content of the video, if it is to be believed, shows exactly what science has been telling us for at least all of my 72 years, that the climate has always swayed from being warmer to cooler. The climate has always changed and will continue to change. It is pure arrogance to think that man is going to control nature and, if we continue to interfere with the natural order, we are in for a massive shock.

good questions, but the answers are out there. "They go 3km down, which represents 120,000 yers. How do they know this?" they calculated it based on the known thermal properties of ice. you can measure the rate it takes for temperature to change in ice. "Why are they only showing the last 8,000 years?" a possible reason is because you have to go down a long way to make sure the ice is insulated enough, and is permanent. so 3km down is just what it takes to get past all the temporary snowfall and such. This is also likely why the graph only goes up to 1950 instead of showing the last 70 years of warming. "How do they know that the temperature in the hole hasn't changed by them making the hole? How do they know that the temperature in hole hasn't changed since the snow was laid down?" you can calculate it based on the know thermal properties of the ice/snow. how fast it disipates, how much time it takes, how much insulation has an effect, ect. they can also measure the friction caused by the process of digging the hole and make adjustments. it's very deterministic.

In 2001, the IPCC wrote that it was 'likely' that warming was caused by humans. For a scientist, there may well have been reason to be cautious. But science has advanced greatly since then, and today there is no longer any doubt.

Thank you! Ceterum cognito: Besides CO2 WATER is what plants (base of life) really crave. You look at the 48-yrs-average of precipitation here in Berlin/Brandenburg. From 1928 to about 1960 it is idling about then it goes down till about 1985 then it goes up. Now it is almost exactly where it was about 100 years ago. The amplitude of the respective difference to the average is tiny. In the meantime you have had an increase in population by 6 billion (from 2billion to 8billion) which makes staggering 8/2 = 400 percent. Let's say the increase of CO2 from 0.032% to 0.042% is "antropogenic", namely due to this population growth: Where then is the correlation to the precipition-curve. Blatantly obvious: There is none whatsoever.

Interesting. Most of us who are in tune with these things around earth, somehow knew this already by intuition or faith... We now have some scientific evidence to compete for loyalty with the climate change croud among th e majority around us. So, what now? We're still divided because no-one wants to find ut they were wrong. They were "scared about the bogey man" following them round or something. Climate change croud might have a valid concern. But, they never seem to want to talk about things like heatwaves and cold snaps. Same goes for those who date evolution according to the fossil record with carbon dating. What bout the heatwaves and cold snaps? What about the pressure changes and other variables at varying depths and rock densities/weights. Pressure level, Heat level, Moisture content, Acidity/Ph, Body material (Animal/Vegetable), and other variables we seem to never hear about in the reports and articles. We just hear big new scientific words that try to make anyone not there in the lab or field at the time invalid and out of the loop..

If only scientists were intune with the earth like you say you are. Btw the graph in this video bases 1950 as the present (this is convention in geological sciences) current warming (up to 2023) since 1950 in Greenland far exceeds the mediaeval warming period.

@Rin-qj7zt
@Rin-qj7zt Жыл бұрын
BS? don't stop there at disbelief. that's lazy. go further. *how much* heat does ice conduct? it's a very easy thing to measure. go further. how much will conduct away given the amount of insulation above it? how does it change as the abient temperature changes? do you know? you can calculate it. it's predictable. what's the temperature of the ice 3km deep? surely it has changed. how much? if it's so predictable, can't you just use those calculations to account for the differences accumulated over time? people put a lot of effort into making these predictions, so i don't think you should dismiss them simply because the massive lengths they've gone to makes it look unintuitive at the surface level.

Yes! We are increasing from the coolest point in the last 10,000 years! What everyone seems to be missing (and was conveniently left out of the video!) is that the last 10,000 years has been an interglacial. Interglacials typically last 10,000 years meaning that we should now be getting colder than the coldest point of that as we enter a glacial period. We are doing the opposite, and that is the issue that we are discussing when we talk about anthropogenic global warming.
@skynetsworld

That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard first you put a thermometer in a hole full of ice and say you know the temperature back in time. Then you tell me that was the global temperature I really do hate being conned. The sun is what cause the climate and the temperature if you have a stove and use it to heat your food it does not get hot because your car is running. From what I see on the alarmist graph is .6 degrees elevated temperature in the last 2000 years and thermometers are not that accurate 50 years ago so we are not sure what exactly was the temperature then you throw in that CO2 gathers solar heat just as water vapor does. But CO2 is the one that is heating the globe and there is no account for heat loss during darkness. When I comment they say that I am not a professional climatologist yet nether is Al gore yet the left believed him.
