Lovely performance. My father who passed away just over 2 months ago would have loved this. As he was declining in health he was comforted by the music of the WWII era, especially the songs sung by Vera Lynn. Made me cry to listen and think of him. My heart goes out to all who are grieving with loss, no matter where or when.

Thank you so much Katherine and my hero dame Vera. Cried all the way through, for my daughter and granddaughter who I haven't seen since 19th march. For my daughter working as a nurse right now on her ward, for my mum a land girl who died last year, for every person who lived through the war and for the world now and everyone in it. God bless everyone. We'll meet again x
@marilynwoolford-chandler11614 жыл бұрын
liz Davies Bless you. My mum was a land girl too. That was in New Zealand and she was working with horses (of which she was terrified) and my grandfather (who could also be rather terrifying). Nowadays during the Covid-19 lock down we would call them "essential ii Al services". Well we do in New Zealand. And we honour their bravery and courage in what my cousin,a nurse calls World War III.

During Operation Torch in WWII, my uncle served with the US 5th Army, fought alongside courageous Brits in North Africa. It was there he first heard the melancholy music of Vera Lynn. He remembers her songs resonating with the soldiers, sailors, airmen and nurses going off to war, those praying for them on the home front, and to those all over the world who experienced the the loss and devastation of the war years. Here in America we remain eternally grateful for their courage and for their sacrifice. Thank you.

Beautiful. We were welling up with tears. Somewhere over the Rainbow. Jealous of the Angels. White Cliffs of Dover. We'll meet again. Jerusalem. A great mix of nostalgia, wartime memories and patriotism. A fitting tribute and what we need right now
@normansmithers76314 жыл бұрын
the lyrics of the first line of 'we'll meet again' are grammatically slovenly & incorrect; ''we'll meet agen, don't know where, don't know when'', should read ''we'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when'', or could be rewritten, ''we'll meet again, when the joy follows pain,''

We can do it but ONLY if it is a "world war". To leave it untouched anywhere gives it a chance to "regroup" and attack us again. We not only have to endure more lockdowns and use social distancing and, one day, have a vaccine but we can't stop there. Places like Africa have to be included in our fight back. Or else.

Commented on Corona Demo 9. Mai 2020 Der Mann mit der roten Nase Commented on Corona Demo München Marienplatz am 9.5.2020 von 14-16 Uhr @ @ "It's not the end, but the beginning of the end" The Fascist Winston Churchill. He also said that the war was not against Hitler or National; Socialism, but against the strength of the German people, which must be smashed once and for all. He knew that the war against Fascism was lost, he knew that the entire Nazi management moved to their new H.Q. in Washington. My father volunteered to close the back door at Alexandria, in 1939, he lost his young brother to U666, when HMS Itchen was torpedoed with 400 Canadian survivors of the St. Croix on board, there were two survivors. What was all this sacrifice for, *NOTHING* . The fightback against these same people, has begun, *DANKE SCHON, DEUTSCHEN VOLK* !!!
