John Carter was a victim of two things. Disney intentionall screwing up the marketing including the trailer because they decided nobody wanted to watch anything having anything to do with Mars. I kid you not. They actually thought changing the movie title and NOT ADVERTISING IT AS A SCI-FI MOVIE EVEN DURING A SUPERBOWL COMMERCIAL WAS A GOOD IDEA. Then when the movie made hundreds of millions of dollars despite those efforts they employed Hlooywood Accounting claiming it had somehow lost hundreds of millions and that was before home video sales and profits from streaming. Apparently with it came out to buy for home it made another 30 million in the first week and while I'm sure that has slowed a great deal it is still making money for them.

On the other hand they haven't made a movie of mote in god's eye, way station, or stars my destination yet.

This "new release" is clearly composed of older videos. Clumsy reuse of older material. Thumbs down.
