We lost an engine! New Smyrna Speedweeks Vol. 1

I remember a 3-race weekend back in 1970 (Friday night at Ascot, Saturday at Saugus Speedway, and Sunday afternoon at Oildale (Bakersfield) the engine blew in the Sportsman (57 Chevy with a Longacre 350). Got home, swapped tires (Ascot was a dirt 1/2 mile). and yanked the motor out, put in a spare 283 that was buried in the corner of the garage, and went to Saugus (our home track). Blew that, got home, and yanked that boat anchor and dropped in a 283 (might have actually been a 265, it's been lot of years. This was grass roots racing back in the 60's and 70's, and it was the most fun you could have with your clothes on. God I miss those days.

damn at about 2:35 you can see a dirt modified in the infield lol that's actually my lil buddy Paulie Hartwig III he was running over at All-Tech in 602 Crate Mods but his dad was running with the 602 mods at New Smyrna because my friend Paulie is too young to race at New Smyrna

I want you to PLEASE compare the mod with a late model. Wide tires, lots of HP. How much more stable dose the mod feels tgan late models? Whats the lap times compared to Late Model.
