Always so happy (joyful!) to see Simeon ANYwhere, but especially as a guest on Pianobook's channel. I love it, and it'll always help to pull me in to watch the video (though I would watch anyway lol)

But why only in Kontakt a deeply unpopular format that involves purchasing a Native instrument product. Decent Sampler is freely available and a preferred format for those who wish to move away from the restrictive (and so often utterly dysfunctional) Kontakt platform

My thoughts exactly. This video let me down the moment he Said that both are Kontakt

Kontakt is the most popular format globally. We advocate for DS because of the fact its totally free. But we don't want to stop people making GREAT sample libraries and submitting them to Pianobook. Certainly there are some features Nami has used here that aren't available in DS... yet! It takes a lot of time to make a sample library, so to make one for two different samplers is asking a lot of someone who's offered something for free, so what can you do? Well, you could download the Kontakt folder, take the .wavs and reprogramme it into DS and upload it to the site. You could hop on our Discord and ask for help converting it to a different format. Or you could use the library in demo mode, and use something like Logic's auto Sampler to create a quick preset you need. The answer is to be a part of this community rather than criticising from the outside. Come and join us and make music more and more accessible!

@@pianobook wow thank you so much for your comprehensive answer! Love it! As an engineering student, yeah, i'm all for pragmatism! All I'm saying (and sorry if i didn't make it clear) is that there's a tendency in KZbin to talk about a free instrument without making the important caveat that it's a Kontakt sample pack. It's a bit clickbaitey. And I say this because it's hard for me personally to save the money for Kontakt. I'm currently saving for Bitwig Studio, which is hard for me personally (I'm living in Portugal and getting less than the minimum wage, so money isn't abundant 😅). When I have the money/time, I'll either buy Kontakt or dive into C++ (gotta learn it anyway hehe) All in all, it's indeed an amazing instrument! And thank you so much for being open! It sure looks like an amazing community! Hope you're having a great day!

@@nene_blimboblambo thanks for the feedback, we want to drive our KZbin channel a bit harder but I'll bear what you've said here in regards to pointing out what is 'free'.

It is NOT free, if you have to buy Kontact…

The downloads (as far as I know) contain wav files, so you can remap it in your own sampler. Kontakt is usually 50% off during Black Friday sales too. Ultimately nothing is free in this world but we try our best!

If you already have Kontakt 6, there is a deal on Kontakt 7, and it is indeed worth it.
