Thanks for a brilliant and very emotional video. 53 years of supporting the Hatters, most of that time dreaming of a new ground. Now it's in touching distance, I'm not sure I want to go ! Magical place, magical people, magical memories.... long live our Kenny.

so apart from making me cry like a child- it was wonderful- ok a bit of a thing last night but hell I've been watching since 1964. For me two perfect memories 1968 Terry Branston and Bruce Rioch in Div 4 championship celebration game!!!!!!!!

A ground built between the tightly packed rows of Georgian terraces at the heart of the community & home to LTFC since 1905. Grounds like Kenilworth Road are fast disappearing to be replaced by modern out of town stadia. The Kenny will inevitably go the same way but what great memories we shared on the hallowed turf.....& at one time plastic!

Brilliant memories! Many I remember in my 55 years of support! COYH!! I think the still at 4:36 is of Bert Trautmann goalkeeper for Man City during the 1950's The Kenny is a proper football ground and I shall miss her when we go to Power Court!

Unpopular opinion but you lot shouldn’t move away. Kenilworth road is exactly what a football ground should be. Yes it needs a bit of renovation and tidying up but other than that... proper ground

Wish we would keep it rather then turning it into flats so that people can rent the ground for some time

Can't afford to stay. It's a loss-making ground. It needs more than a bit of renovation. To get it up to any sort of modern standard would cost too much for too little return. The cost of a new ground will be met by enabling development, which couldn't happen doing up Kenilworth Road. The club must move. It's going to be moving to a site right by the train station, in the middle of the town centre (so not on the edge of town in some field somewhere like many new grounds). It's a perfect site and the new stadium designs look superb. It's got to happen

@@JJJJ-fi9dg I really won't mate. It's time to move on. The ground has been holding that club back for decades. I'm almost at a stage where I resent the place. I've got great memories of it but, honestly, I can't wait until we get out of there. I love the memories but not the place anymore. But, even if you're right and I did end up missing the place (I won't), the club has absolutely no choice. The club isn't even a going concern in that ground and it's incredible we've survived the various times of crisis we've had. We can't make money there. No room for growth or development

Fantastic!! I went to my first Luton match when I came down to visit relatives around 1979 v Bristol Rovers, we won 1-0 with a re-taken penalty (3:36 perhaps?) and sitting in the old Bobbers Stand. I then moved down in 1985, worked in SKF, and spent the next 3 seasons watching them home and a load of away games. I remember being in the old Oak Rd terracing as Steve White scored 4 against Grimsby, players like the Steins, Hill, Foster, Sealy (he could dish the abuse back at fans) Donaghy, Preece, etc, I was lucky to see them during a great phase, 2 Cup Finals...ahhh, those were the days. Took my son to watch Luton couple of years back and found the ground hadn't changed much in 25 years, apart from the D. Preece stand. The old turnstiles that never worked with my "Membership Card" were still there but the plastic pitch, which I used to wander in to watch being laid over one summer, was gone. Great video, thanks. andynorthcroy...MATE I think I was mascot that game. I wonder why everyone is so keen to move to Power Court (who thought of that pathetic name?). I’m sick of these new soulless stadiums that sound the same and mostly look the same. PC side stands are Millwall copies. They hate their stadium. Why we can’t renovate KR is beyond me. All the excuses are bullshit. But at least we are getting a supermarket and a “Small niche cinema” with Power Court!!! Gary Sweet lied to me too about PC. I asked him about the pitch dimensions. Something which is important to how we play. GS told me on record that the FA tell them the pitch size. Utter crap. Why did he lie? PC is a money making con of you ask me. Money not for LTFC. And it’s the same people who wear “Love Luton” shorts who are hating the wonderful Kenny. I despise PC. I reckon it’s selling us out.

@@jamisbillson4872 And breathe... Power Court is the actual name of the place and has been since a power station was put there in the early part of the 20th century. Why, did you think the club made up that name? If you have the cash to renovate KR, I'm sure the club would happily listen to your proposal. You need to be able to afford to buy the ground off of the council, go through the expensive planning permission process, probably have to buy some houses up, kicking people out of their home, and demolishing them and then demolish the whole ground to re-build it again. All the while with the club losing money because the capacity will be even more reduced for years by the building. All without any other way to fund it, so the cash will have to come out of your pocket with very little prospect of getting your money back

LRD...it’s been a whole year then since I’ve breathed. I know PC is an old power station now. I’d still prefer to renovate KR. So many fans hate their new plastic stadiums. When the cameras come to KR the commentators always say “Hostile atmosphere, traditional old stadium that are fast being knocked down”. A new two tiered Bobbers Stand for the paupers like me would be my choice. But the new fashion is for new stadiums...until the fans move into them. Then all you hear are moans. But let’s ignore that. Everyone else does before they move!!

@@jamisbillson4872 Why do we have to be like other clubs? Why do we have to make their mistakes? Plenty of lessons to be learned in the mistakes others have made. I'm confident we'll get it right. I do agree with you - most other clubs have got it wrong. We won't. Many of those clubs who did get it wrong - Coventry, Man City, West Ham, etc didn't even have to move. That's an important difference. We do. We won't survive at KR. Fans moan about us selling players and not having money to sign this, that and the other player - well, the only way we're going to ensure we can sign this player and keep that player is by generating income. And we won't generate feck all at KR. At PC we may even get England U-21 games there. If renovating KR was an option I'd have been up for it. Unfortunately neither you, I or anyone else has about £70 million handy to re-build the place. Putting a two-tier stand where the Bobbers is would not get planning permission as it will block the light for the houses behind it. Unless you put compulsory purchase orders and buy all those houses, which wouldn't get through the courts. Believe me, I know - the club looked at the possibility of re-doing KR. It was financially and planning-wise totally unfeasible. PC is a great location - right by the train station, right in the town centre, near pubs, regenerating a shithole piece of land. Superb. Most clubs who move have gone to the edge of town which is, generally, a mistake and ends up shite. A new ground doesn't have to be shit. I think Derby's is pretty good, for example, although the location ain't great. Design, acoustics, etc, pricing of areas of the stadium at PC will be vital, admittedly and they need to get that right. It's the fans that make the atmosphere and you need to plan it so the 'loud' fans can congregate in one or two areas of the ground so they can do that. You moaning that PC looks like Millwall's wing stands - I like the two-tier stand structure and it's better than the embarrassing conservatories that goes for a wing stand now. And 2-tiers is also better than a single tier bowl like Coventry and Soton. I've had some great days/nights there. I have shit loads of great memories but KR has been holding us back for years and will continue to do so. It's like going out with a girl you know ain't good for you anymore (she was, once) but you have had good times in the past and you cling to that - when the right thing to do is move on. If we stay there we're condemned to barely surviving in League 1 and 2 forever. Bollocks to that
