The alarm goes off at 5am and it's only after a few snoozes I realize what's going on. I'm already late. That's how my first (and last) morning shift at the bakery starts.
This is a second video from my new series about work. Every couple of weeks I take on a new job and try to convey my experiences through Instagram stories ( linasdirbadarbus) and these videos. The first job I tried was being a food courier, now I'm peaking into the life and work of the baker 👩🍳
But because of the pandemic, I had to cut my job in "Druska Miltai Vanduo" bakery short. Still, I managed to get three shifts worth of work. They are all here, in this one video presented as one long day working in the bakery cafe.
The first shift wasn't that much different from my previous job. Early Friday morning started with bread, muffin and buns deliveries. I had an amazing lunch and was off.
Came in Saturday where I had a whole day shift working front of the house. That's where my experience got me - collecting and washing dishes, disinfecting surfaces and trying to work the till. Finally! I was getting closer to the real work of the baker - the early morning shift 💕
Unfortunately, because of the nationwide quarantine that was also my last shit. But I promise - I will be back to try and make the infamous sourdough bread. That's why the bakery is called Salt, Flour and Water - main and only ingredients in sourdough bread. If you are ever visiting Vilnius don't miss this amazing bakery cafe situated in Stotis neighborhood. Reach out to them on Instagram or Facebook - / dmvkepykla
