He was like, 12th place in Brawl which was exceptional for a heavyweight. They nerfed him to ground after that. I can understand it for the Down Grab where dedede would litteraly sit on you which dealt alot of damage and little to no knockbacks which would allow you to chain grab, and his down air, and back air that was the greatest tool for edge guarding. It was all perfect till Sakurai decided to make his own character suffer, including MetaKnight and Kirby.

4:33 I will honestly never understand why people are so against armor. Like it is an essential mechanic for big characters at this point and it still has crazy end lag so I will never understand why people think games with no armor, but have so much start up/end lag is good game design. Why not just make his side B Gordo be hit by dedede to change the trajectory, like how everyone else can when they hit it? Like if you side b upward to make it bounce you could do a forward air and make it launch forward, would make his projectile more useful for set ups. Or any attack from him can change the trajectory. Probably the only buff he would need to be better.
