The key to crispy, golden chips is soaking them in cold water to get the excess starch out. Then double fry them. Perfect chips.

It looks delicious. It's nice to put a nori sheet on the tofu pieces before the batter (obvs), then it looks like fish with the skin on. But I guess that would be tricky to do in 10 mins! Yours is a great speedy way to make yummy vegan 'fish' and chips :)

Loved the video. I think I will steamed the potatoes first while preparing and cooking the fish, then just fried the pre-cooked potatoes after the fish are done. Great video.

Cut a piece of nori the same size as the tofu and stick it to it with some lemon juice. Then dip in the batter. It looks like the skin of the fish and gives it a more "fishy" taste 👍🏻

Honestly, I think Gordon Ramsay should cook vegan recipes too, and re enact our favourite meals such as burgers, Mac n cheese, etc... If he’s such a good chef, how about he proves it by cooking the perfect vegan Mac n cheese dish? I dare him to try it. How to make vegan fish n chips in 10 minutes... if you marinate your tofu for an hour first. And wash & peel your potatoes first. And measure, chop, and prep all your ingredients first. And pre-heat the oil first. And take 15 minutes. Like magic!

Because potatoes takes the longest to cook i would have chopped the spuds first. 5 mins later, In another frying pan the vegan fish. Because tofu is bland, i would have soaked it in rich umami dressing or liquid aminos for several hours. Then whip the batter

You can sift it after cooling down and re-use it. Either way, frying is honestly not very environmentally friendly if you don't put thought into it what you do afterwards with it - the best thing I found is that you can bring it to oil recycling locations in major cities. Some people make bio diesel out of vegetable oil, or soaps, or insect spray. Putting it in the trash means it just goes into landfill. And never pour it down the drain or toilet.

Unlike me, who didn’t go vegan until I was an adult, my kids have been vegan since birth. They never had real fish, burgers or any of my own favorite pre-vegan foods so when I offer them vegan versions of these foods they’re not excited as I am.
