We Made MONSTERS INC in Non-Euclidean Minecraft!

...And the doors actually work!
Today I brought Albin (abbelele) and Torpeden along for a Non-Euclidean build, and after about 30 minutes we had finished the Scare floor from one of my favorite childhood movies: Monsters Inc. What is "Non-Euclidean Minecraft"?
Well firstly, it isn't really non-euclidean. That is just a term that most youtubers use when describing the Immersive Portals mod since it kind of turns minecraft into a semi non-euclidean game. The immersive portals mod turns all minecraft portals into see-through seemless portals, that you can just walk through to reach the next dimension. The mod also adds special portal blocks that you can use to create seemless portals in one dimension, allowing for an extension of what normally is possible in vanilla minecraft.
What is Monsters inc?
Monsters, Inc. is a 2001 American computer-animated comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. Featuring the voices of John Goodman, Billy Crystal, Steve Buscemi, James Coburn, Mary Gibbs and Jennifer Tilly, the film was directed by Pete Docter in his directorial debut, and executive produced by John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton. The film centers on two monsters - James P. "Sulley" Sullivan and his one-eyed partner and best friend Mike Wazowski - employed at the titular energy-producing factory Monsters, Inc, which generates power by scaring human children. However, the monster world believes that the children are toxic, and when one sneaks into the factory, Sulley and Mike must return her home before it is too late.

PSA: Immersive portals interact normally and can be moved by stuff from the create mod, therefore, although it would take a lot of work, it is technically possible to make it so that the door portals can be transported around like in the movie. Even if not for this exact use case, I bet you can probably make something really cool with being able to move around immersive portals.

Create uses Forge and Immersive Portals uses Fabric. There is an Immersive Portals port on Forge, but it isn't as stable as the Fabric version, and typically causes a fair amount of lag.

Been binge watching all your Non-Euclidean videos on my PS4 and you're very quickly becoming my favourite KZbinr if I'm being honest. The intros are quick and to the point. The editing is clean and minimalistic yet playful and fun. The humor and jokes always make me laugh and the overall concepts are so creative. Yeah, I did that a while ago... In 2014 I saw the Dimensional doors mod and was like "What if they showed the other side so you could make Monsters Inc or something?". Then Immersive portals came around, which is when I was thinking... _Perfect._

Shalz- If you're struggling with lighting, using lanterns etc, use the command /give (your name) light_block 1 15 The 15 means light level 15 and the 1 is just the amount in your inventory but you're in creative so it doesn't matter. These block's are see through and walk through.
