But there's tweets attacking all of the contestants looks with like 20k-40k likes & people egging them on. Not to mention the racist comments on some of the contestants personal tiktok accounts. It's genuinely been gross to see people so comfortable and prominent with the hate in 2024 and especially in our fandom that preaches kindness. Of course everyone at the meet IRL was nice but that kinda gets washed out when suddenly they're behind a screen and tens of thousands of "Armys" are so comfortable attacking the contestants personally. To what extent does the hate need to get to that we stop saying "that doesn't happen in real life" or "its not all of us"? When we've seen more devastating consequences from idols over simpler matters of online hate. Its simply been my own experience on this. Also not rly relevant imo but since you mention it, charity work does not make someone a good person. Mr. Beast, Cops, Nonprofits, Elizabeth Holmes, etc. The fact that Army as a fandom has donated much over the years is nice but does not mean they are negated from ever doing anything else wrong. Too many Armys use past actions and the popularity/ size of the fandom to justify current uncomfortable behavior, it hold no ground in my opinion. I'm looking at the individuals and they are not looking very nice. Edit: you can also just look at some of the comments under this video. "Armys" with BTS pfps and usernames like "loveyourselfbts" (not actually just using an example) are commenting hate directly on Amber's video, about her and her family, with insults or trying to call them names. Amber is a real life person, the online comments will affect a irl person at that point. It's no longer "just online" and an insult doesn't just have to be in person for it to hurt. Also Amber is always liking comments, even the newest ones, & is super dedicated to her channel so it's obvious that she's seeing the crap ppl are saying. (I'm not disregarding your opinion, but trying to further explain mine.) I appreciate you trying to give me a different POV, regardless.
