a more complicated way of telling mutations without the actual points seen thru binoculars is to go into ur creatures inventory, write down the stat numbers and see which increase, but that can also be difficult because none of them increase if the mutation goes into speed and some of them go into oxy which for some dinos like bary is also set to 0. hope that helped a bit

One substitute I've found for cryopods fixing bugged animals has been to upload and download at a supply drop. In your test environment you could probably also use a transmitter. Then it just depends if the breeding cooldown is longer than restarting the server

So essentially if I get 1 mutation on a stat with 1 point and then later get the same creature with 2 points in that stat and breed it with the mutated creature I could get those 2 mutations on top of the 2 points instead of the mutations being tied to the 1 point in stat? That's pretty awesome

Have you found that it is still easier (and faster) to separate the stats you are mutating onto separate animals? Or is it just as easy (and faster) to try and get them on the same animal? I have my health and melee on separate males and it's taken me over 1000 breedings to get a second mutation on my health stat. Mind you, this is in single player with only being able to breed 12 to 14 females as the breeding distance in SP is about 2 foundations, much shorter than on a server.

I currently have Rexes with 4 mutations both on Health and Melee. By the old way of breeding mutated males to unmutated females.

Excellent video. Now, it says that server owners will be able to set max level caps per stat, with the official servers keeping the 255 that ASE had hard coded. Does anyone know if that 255 limit is for both the base stat + the mutation levels added together, or is it just for the mutation levels? Because if it is just the mutation levels, then creatures could end up stronger than the were in ASE, as you could get 254 mutation levels + 40 to 50 base levels, unless of course the mutation levels give less to a stat than the base levels.

No they can go higher up. I had them up in the 40s in some of my tests. I assume they go to 254

Im dumb so I just want to make 100% sure. So the change is that you can now have a dino with lets say 50 points into health and you can breed that with a mutated health creature and it has a chance now to have the 50 points and the mutated points?

Another thought, since you are breeding to the unmutated max level dino at the END of your mutations, wouldn't it be faster to breed mutated males to mutated females? As long as they are producing the mutations onto the stats you want like Health and Melee on Rex. It shouldn't matter at all how many is on each parent during the mutation stacking...as long as those stacks don't go higher than 20 on each of them. Because, at the end, you are breeding to an unmutated max level.

I’m Confused this mean I can breed let’s say 10 female rexes low lvls with a decent Rex level 200 let’s say or don’t matter lvl as long as I start getting meele mutations and later I tame a good meele Rex I can stack the mutations in top of this Rex???????????????😮

It means that mutation stack can be moved onto a higher stat so if you have 19 mutations into health and suddenly your tribemate comes home with a higher base health stat all you have to do is breed the higher base into the line rather than start again.

In ark survival evolved mutations couldn't be passed without the bad stat, but now because it's tracked separately, you theoretically mutate bad dinos and move the mutations to a good dino with higher base stats than the initial mutation line

Meaning you can start mutating stats independently of finding a tame with a high stat. You can then breed the mutation stack on to the dino with the high base stat once its found.

Mutations no longer increase the base level; they instead add to their own separate level counter. For example, say you start mutating with a rex that has 40 base health levels, and get 5 health mutations. Back in ASE, that rex would show 50 base health, now in ASA it would show 40 base health, 10 mutation health. Now lets say you tame a rex that is super lucky and comes out with 50 base health. In ASE, all your mutation effort would have been wasted, since your new higher base stat is the same as your mutated one. Now in ASA, you could mate that new 50 base health rex with your 40 base, 10 mutation rex and get a 50 base, 10 mutation health rex, passing those mutated levels on while keeping the higher base.

Find a PvP tribe and enjoy the unlimited tame limit. There's lots of them out there that will take a PvE player in that specializes in breeding/taming only
