After a stressful start to Van Life we were just trying our hardest to focus on the new van and making everything as perfect as possible. Although It's hard to forget about the first van as it's still sat on our driveway, a positive attitude is whats needed to get us through this van build. Luckily Dave and Helen are just the BEST! They're helping us work everything out which is nice, we don't feel so alone in this. Once again thank you guys for always being here for us, your support means the world and please... this experience you're having is absolutely unfathomable to me. I've never bought a car outside of the US, so I don't know what dealership standards are anywhere else. but here, when I bought my first car, i sat in the backseat to make sure there was sufficient leg space for my friends (we are all tall) and pulled out the center folding arm rest, at which point a ton of candy wrappers fell out of it. I laughed and said "the last owner must have had kids," got out and threw them away. The salespeople helping me were so embarrassed that they had missed a spot cleaning it on intake that they gave the car a full detailing and deep clean free of charge when I bought the car. That service typically costs $400 for a sedan and $550 for a SUV at their dealership. I had to come back 3 days later to get it so it could properly dry completely from the shampooing of the seats, trunk liner, ceiling, and floor. I cannot imagine a dealership being so sketchy. Even the less reputable places my brother has purchased from would flip out, apologize, and immediately make reparations or replacements if there was an unexpected issue with the car he just bought.

Sell it as a work van. Carpet people and construction guys would be interested. They won't be putting children in it, if it's used for work purposes. Still take legal action, and be sure and get someone with a good reputation to represent you. Don't go this alone. Also, would you be so kind as to put my little girls name in your van? Her name was Lacey. I lost her in 1994 to an accident. She was only 6. It would mean a lot to me and it would be so cool to have her name floating around over there with your sweet family. She would've loved that. If not, I understand. She would be 34.

Sometimes, the pressure of legal action can be enough for a company to make things right. There was an apartment complex I was going to move into with someone else. The other party signed their lease and moved into the apartment for a few days, but I guess I accidentally didn't sign the actual lease agreement. The other people moved out after a few days because the whole place smelled like mold, the air conditioning stopped working (in the desert and in the summer), and no one could be in there without getting sick. The apartment complex then said it was up to me to pay for the entire 2 bed and 2 bath apartment that was damaged and made everyone sick, even though I wasn't legally tied to it. We ended up doing a local news story about it, and they decided "to just let it go even though I still owed them." They definitely didn't let it go because they moved people into an apartment that was like being put into a microwave with mold that made everyone feel like throwing up and then went after the 18 year old (at the time) who didn't realize until we brought a lawyer in that I never signed the lease. If they think they can walk over you, they may just try to do that. It's nice when it nips them in the butt later, though. With that said, it's great that you aren't putting any individuals on blast publicly.

Realistically it seems this is how car sellers are. Mechanics there & in the states regularly make crap cars look better because dealers come in and pay for that. Just ask your local ones, if people don't know anything or even a little about cars... sellers will take advantage. And make sure they don't have to pay you back.

My aunt has sky light windows on the ceiling of her house . I love that if I get a van I want a large sky light so alot of light comes in and I can have plants and vitamin D. Also it would be great so I don't have to use alot of electricity during the day. But one down side it if it hails . So I would want something on the outside that I can slide over to protect the glass and if needed keep light out.
