Amen, I was trying to understand this when I arrived also. If you have time watch the Ken Burns documentary on the war and also speak with the local people. It was a pretty complex situation and not good for anyone. Beautiful country and people and their economy is growing quite quickly:)

Traveled to Da Nang every year since 2001..still a great city and nice beach but too many tourists now and becoming too over developed . I miss the old days when no one was on the beach but time goes on and things change..

Just found your video, brought me back to my time there (end of last year, first 3 months of this year). I spent a week at the beach near An Bang, a week in the city of Hoi An, and about 10 days on Phu Quoc Island. It was my first trip to Vietnam, (along with about 2 weeks in Cambodia). After each adventure, I went back to Da Nang and it felt the most like home. I stayed in My An/ An Thong area also, so your video showed all the places I frequented. I'm going back in December and plan 5 months of exploring with Da Nang as home base. Thanks for showing my new favorite place in Asia!

For authentic sea food do try the row of makeshift seafood stalls on the way to Sontra beside the temple ( probably 1.5 km from Fusion Suites as a landmark on the cast road ) Head down to Minsk bar after dinner ( An Thuong 4 ) to chill and mix with a diverse crowd.

DaNang is my fave city.. and the huge seafood restaurants across from the beach are THE BEST.. We ate at BeMan "B" every night we were there. Just got back on Monday from my 5th trip to Vietnam in 2 years and BeMan "B" has been closed for remodeling so we ate at BeMan "A". Just as tasty..

Hello to the James's.......Just found this Vlog and really enjoyed it! You're a sharp, and smart looking couple. Hope you are still in Vietnam. - (will check out your channel here for more info -etc) I am a Vietnam Veteran and was there '67 & thru the '68 TET until mid July when I went home and back to civilian life. My last 4 to 5 months in country was with the Aussie's at 'Nui Dat' ( close to Vung Tau ). Made a lot of Aussie friends at the time, and had several offer to support my moving to Australia. They were a wild bunch of guys too!! - I am soon selling my home in Las Vegas, Nv., and will be headed in your direction, and maybe Thailand too ! .......OK enough for now .....Cul, Jim

Hi Steven G, thanks for watching:) In Da Nang I would imagine around 20-30% of people would have really basic english. You can get by with a menu and some hand gestures or even google translate if you have to. It kind of makes the experience more fun haha. Are you thinking about travelling this way soon?

I plan to be returning to the Philippines in early July where I’ll stay for 2 months, then I would like to see Vung Tao and Da Nang. I have loved everything I have seen and heard about Da Nang except for one thing... the never-ending noise of new construction, haha! Still, I plan on coming to explore and if I decided to stay, I would love to “luck out” and find an apartment where you guys are. It just looks so charming and perfect. A studio would be fine, or even a 1-bedroom. 😎 Enjoy your stay and hopefully we can meet up soon!

Ah fantastic, I would also like to visit Vung Tao. There are a few alternative options to the contruction noise depending and your budget and where you would like to live. There are quieter neighbourhoods or you could also try staying in Hoi An, which is still super close. Please let us know when you come we would be happy to meet and give you a few tips. Oh my god!!! I finally found normal people who are vlogging about expat life in VN!!! I am an old fart American looking at affordable retirement options in VN. So many vloggers present such banal, boring and goofy information only to discover I've been watching a commercial. I watch them in search of good information about this amazing country and soon discover I am being told it would be best if I purchase one of the vloggers "packages" to get more info. I'm not against someone earning money vlogging and I am happy to buy a package if think it would be beneficial, but please tell me up front so I don't watch the entire vlog only to discover the information promised in the description never quite appears, but I can have it for a small, one time fee.... Thank you, thank you, thank you Shannon and Jesse for providing a collection of pleasantly presented, informative and fun videos. I really appreciate how informative your vlogs are and it is so nice not to see video surfing of what I am starting to call " Video surfing the streets of, (enter name of SE Asian country here), apparent emphasis on prostitutes and go go clubs". You both present a very real, believable, taste of Viet Nam without all the fluff. I will use your vlogs as at least part of my guide to relocation in the coming years. Keep up the good work!!

LOL 2) I had the same scooter seat lock issue, Use the ignition key & turn the key to release the seat lock. *Nice room deal given the location -and short term too! Great neighborhood. Seafood splurge for sure but looks clean, very healthy, and tasty. My Thai wife would not allow it though. $85 OMG eat for whole month!!! "it's apparently Monday" ROFLMAO.

Hi Sean, im not really a teacher but Shannon is. I guess it all depends what you want from life. Teaching in China pays a lot higher but I don't believe its the nicest place to live. There are plenty of teachers in Da Nang so I guess employment would be a little patchy.

Hi Phuong, yes everybody in VN is supposed to have a license. Anything under 100cc is ok I believe.

@@stevecosby6006 Hi Steve there is much more to do in Hoi An compared to Da Nang. Since it is your honeymoon I will recommend a romantic lunch ( better for the view ) at one of the restaurants the Interncontinental Da Nang, which is the No 1 resort in the world. Need to take a cab from Da Nang city up Sontral moutains ( approx 20-30 mins ). Best to do this when you are in Da Nang, cause the journey from Hoi An could take an hour. My favourite restaurant in Hoi An is the Cargo Club, for both main meals and scrumptious pastries. Get a seat at the balcony to enjoy the dining experience. Cheers Shan

Hi Steve, The seafood restaurant we are unsure of the name but its corner of Do Ba & Von Nguyen Giap on the esplanade. Yes, Shanmuga is correct there is heaps to do in Hoi An there is also a lot to see in Da Nang you just need to know where to go as its much larger. KZbin should you plenty of ideas. Enjoy the honeymoon:)
