I'm at teacher, and I can honesty say these experiences change children, they learn about culture, about traveling, they socialise, spend time with their families and most of all have fun, memories for a life time . You never know what's gonna happen, and your not always promised tomorrow. Enjoying life through experiences like this and having fun is so much more important than a month of class, especially considering these kids are so young. It's all about being happy. I know Bonnie expected half of you people that all wrote the rude and negative comments!!! Cmon people!! Do you really think Bonnie and Joel wound do anything to jeopardize their kids education or well being?? Of course not... I know Bonnie and Joel thought about all the pros and cons concerning the kids very long and hard!! If you think about it... that's one big reasons everyone watches Bonnie!! Plus they are not thinking of y'all petty comments while they are loving and spending time with their kids on this amazing journey!!!! a school is for teaching lessons and helping with social skills, not another source of parental advice lol. i had a vacation and was gone for 2 weeks and my dean & principal had a fit 😂 my parents simply told them that they were there to teach me the curriculum and had no opinion on what my family does haha! but HAVE FUN IT'S SO AWESOME GUYS & SING LOTS OF SONGS FROM MOANA!

I don't understand the negative comments. You can do homework anytime. You don't always find time to spend a month with your family. Public schools are horrible anyway. You sit in a room like robots for seven hours, as teachers cram copious amount if information into your brains, then expect you to go home and do 3 hours of homework. I can guarantee this trip will be more enriching for Olivia than a months worth of school would be.

Everyone who is saying they could have done it in the summer- 1.) it's probably peak season in the summer and would be more expensive and harder to find somewhere to stay. 2.) it's really none of our business and we should be thankful they're sharing their lives with us because I LOVE seeing Hawaii through these vlogs 3.) I'm a teacher, but I am also a mom and family time and memories always trumps school because kids grow up so fast and they won't always have these opportunities! I have a daughter in second grade and it's no joke. I hope you both recognize that she probably had an extremely time consuming task to put together three weeks of class/homework. It's nearly impossible to know that far ahead of time where a class will be at. On top of that, she will probably feel the weight on her shoulders to get Olivia caught up (if necessary) before the school year is finished. That is an AWFUL lot to ask of a teacher. It would have been so much better to wait until Summer break.

Life's too short to stress about a child Olivia's age missing a few weeks of school. She is bright and she will get caught up. Hope you guys enjoy your trip and totally agree with it being your decision. Considering the fact you have 4 kids it makes sense to do this now when two aren't in school yet as it means less time missed. I would love to do something like this with my boys and since they are only going to be 18 months apart and I only have two it's super easy for me to do it. I am a mother of four and would do this vacation in a heartbeat!! my kids are above average intelligence(gifted)and get bored with the school system setup anyway, but she has their homework so mind tour biz! I mean HI...come on!!! Once in a lifetime, especially for a large family. I lived there while my husband was stationed there in the Army with our two kiddos and we miss it so much(not the bugs or super humidity though) I have never been on a vacation with my kids and we are saving up for Disneyland. watching blogs like these gives me help, hope and happiness in that future of family fun! I live in Eden,UT (my hubbs is from Logan, Hyrum) and it feels awesome seeing locals share their lives. Have fun and be safe! Bonnie and Joel I just want to say how awesome it is that you are taking them on this extended vacation.. A few comments that I read about how people are unsubscribing makes me believe you are weeding through people that don't need to be involved in your life and see you and your families day to day life. The negative comments don't even need to be said. What are they going to do. Make you and Joel decide to come back sooner?!? They are crazy if they think their comments could change that. I don't understand the point of being so negative. Especially about something so positive. If they are really worried about teachers preparing homework for that long, there is a thing called email. if I had the opportunity and the means I would do this in a heart beat. Years ago I didn't go back to my grandfather's home country with him because of worry about missing school and the cost. I regret that decision even today, 15 years later. Good on ya Bonnie! Have fun and make memories!
