Great video! As I was reading through the comments, I came across a reply you made about being saved & having evidence of the Holy Spirit. I’m not trying to cause tension so please don’t take my question as such. Do you believe that the evidence of being truly saved is speaking in tongues?

The Word of God teaches us that salvation is a process of having faith in God. The Word of God reveals that we can be saved through the atoning work of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul speaks about salvation in the past tense, present tense, and future tense. Peter says that the salvation of our souls is the end of our faith (1 Peter 1:9). So we must have initial faith in order to be born again and then we must continue to abide in Jesus Christ by faith until the end of our lives or the return of the Lord in order to receive the end of our faith which is the salvation of our souls. The Word of God tells us that we must be born again in order to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus then expounds upon what that means by saying that we must be born of the water and the Spirit (John 3:3-5). Jesus then tells the apostles to begin to preach a message beginning in Jerusalem after they were filled with the Holy Ghost as we read in the Great Commission. This would be the gospel of Jesus Christ under the New Covenant after Jesus died, resurrected from the dead, and ascended into heaven. After the apostles were filled with the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost, Peter stood up and preached the gospel under the New Covenant for the very first time to the Jews present where they were in Jerusalem. Many Jews were pricked in their heart and asked them about what they needed to do. Peter then says, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38). As we read through the book of Acts, we can see examples of how the apostles knew whether someone had received the Holy Ghost or not. It didn't happen automatically after one truly believed in the gospel of Jesus Christ as some teach today. A perfect example of this is found in Acts Chapter 8. Acts 8:12-17 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. So this passage shows us that receiving the Holy Ghost doesn't happen automatically the moment someone truly believes, nor does it happen automatically after someone is baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ. If you continue reading that chapter, you can see that Simon witnessed something powerful because he offered Peter and John money so that he could have the same power to lay hands on people and see them receive the Holy Spirit. It obviously wasn't something that was quiet and invisible, but something that could be seen and witnessed. By continuing to read the book of Acts, we can come to see that Simon witnessed those people of Samaria start speaking in a language they had never learned because that is how the apostles elsewhere knew that people had received the Holy Spirit. Acts 10 reveals how the first Gentiles heard the gospel and believed and were filled with the Holy Ghost. Acts 10:44-46 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. We see here that the apostles knew they had received the Holy Ghost "because they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God." That is the sign that the apostles looked for that let them know they had received the Holy Spirit. Peter then commanded them to be baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ (the Lord). This is how we are born again of the water and the Spirit. The water is referring to water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. And the Spirit is referring to Spirit baptism with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues. When we obey the gospel that Jesus commanded the apostles to begin to preach, starting in Jerusalem as we read in Acts 2:38, that is how we are born again of the water and the Spirit. But we must first have personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and truly repent before we will receive the Holy Spirit and before we get baptized. Repentance is a prerequisite to both baptism in water and baptism with the Spirit. When we obey the gospel, this is how the Spirit, the water, and the blood all agree in one in the earth: 1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. They agree in one new birth, the born again experience. There is much more to say on these things, which is why I've done an entire gospel series with my personal testimony and an entire series on understanding water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ under the New Covenant as the apostles taught. If you are interested in hearing more, here is my series that I've done on the gospel under the New Covenant that goes into great depth on repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit. I also cover many objections that are out there regarding what I've shared above. kzbin.info/aero/PLo_7oh9llbNZAqbRChaNccCdByN3i_E-e Here is my series that goes into great depth regarding water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ under the New Covenant: kzbin.info/aero/PLo_7oh9llbNZ2GrHzabwK-uXkKwf64Hgk So understanding all of this, to now better answer you question, the evidence of being truly saved is not just speaking in tongues. It is repentance from dead works, faith in Jesus Christ and all that He's accomplished, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues. Continued ongoing evidence would be that one continues to preach and live of the gospel the apostles preached and bears much fruit by abiding in Jesus Christ, walking after the Spirit and not after the flesh. This is the evidence someone is truly born again, but they must continue to abide in Jesus Christ and overcome until the end in order to receive the end of their faith, which is the salvation of their soul. Being born again is the entire process of being born of the water and the Spirit. When someone experiences both, then they are born again and saved from bondage to sin as long as they continue to abide in Jesus Christ by faith. Sorry, I know that was a long answer, but it was necessary in order to be accurate. I pray you can understand what I have shared above. There are many gospels floating around in the religious world today that don't line up with the entirety of Scripture. We must stick to what Jesus told the apostles to begin to preach and see what they preached to the lost. The book of Acts opens this up to us with crystal clarity, but unfortunately many modern day gospel preachers have overlooked the book of Acts and have preached a "sinner's prayer" gospel that is found nowhere in Scripture. I'll end this here or else this will get ridiculously long. God bless you in your continued studies and as you consider what I've shared from the Word of God. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

If you lost your salvation can you get it back again?
@ShatteringFalseFoundations

Yes you can! Many people who think they’ve lost their salvation have never really been born again to begin with. In this case they would need to obey the gospel in faith as we read in Acts 2:38 and be born of water and Spirit. I can’t stress enough how important it is for us to understand what the full gospel is that the apostles preached. One needs to truly repent after confessing that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Saviour (God manifest in the flesh) and then get baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking in other tongues. Many people have been baptized in the titles Father, Son, and Holy Spirit but have not actually called upon the name of Jesus Christ in baptism and been baptized in the singular name of the One true God who is Father, Son, and Spirit. That name is Jesus! If someone has truly been born again after obeying the full gospel (Acts 2:38) and they fell into sin or walked away from God, they can always turn back to Jesus Christ in repentance and be covered by the blood of Jesus. One needs to recognize that someone who apostatizes in the manner of Hebrews 6 and Hebrews 10 is someone who turns away and forsakes Jesus defiantly and willingly walks away from salvation (as many born again Jews did by reverting to Judaism). It’s really important to understand context and to recognize that only born again believers could apostatize. Someone who apostatizes is someone who isn’t concerned about it. I recommend watching this entire series all the way through from the very beginning to understand the details of the context. @@ShatteringFalseFoundationsI have a question. How do you know Paul wrote the book of Hebrews? Not saying you're wrong but just curious. I think your spot on with your videos. I'm just curious on how you came up with Paul writing Hebrews because Paul can be confusing in his letters but Hebrews is quite clear. I have been born again and spoke in tongues. It kinda freaked me out at first because I didn't know what was going on and have received more gifts. It's great to see someone preach the true word and not a feel good message.

Praise the Lord that you have been born again! That's interesting that you think Hebrews is "quite clear." Many scholars consider it one of the more difficult and challenging books of the entire Bible since it was written to Hebrew Christians. Anyway, I believe Paul wrote Hebrews for a variety of reasons but the main reason is because Paul said that his "token" in every epistle was signing off with "grace." 2 Thessalonians 3:17-18 KJVS The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. [18] The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Paul signs off with grace in Hebrews. Hebrews 13:24-25 KJVS Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you. [25] Grace be with you all. Amen. The writing style, thoughts and reasonings are Paul. If there are any differences this is due to the fact that Paul is writing to the Hebrews and not to the saints in the Gentile churches such as his letter to the Romans. Paul is the only New Testament writer to request prayer for himself - Heb. 13:18, 1 Thess. 5:25, 2 Thess. 3:1, 2 Cor. 1:11. No other writer mentions Timothy. Paul refers to him 20 times and calls him brother: 2Cor 1:1, Col 1:1; 1 Thess 3:2, Phil 1:1, Heb 13:23. Paul was the only writer who writes from prison and who was expecting and looking for release - Heb 13:19, 23; Phil 1:7-8, 13, 26; 2:23-24. Paul writes Hebrews around 65 AD from captivity in Italy and before 66 AD, which is the time of Peter’s writing of 1 & 2 Peter (2 Peter 3:15- Peter thus confirming his authorship). The times when Paul was in Rome he was in bonds. The first time around 61-62 AD as mentioned in Heb 10:24 and this time when he pens Hebrews from prison, having been blamed and re-captured by Nero for stirring up the Christians for the fire of Rome in 64 AD. The conclusion of the Hebrews epistle is similar to Paul’s others. Compare Heb. 13:18-25 to the others. Hope this helps solidify in your heart and mind that Paul is the author of Hebrews. God did not want us to wonder about who wrote Hebrews. @@richhuzy6592

Curious as to why you say the letter to the Hebrews is written to, "Christian Jews". The term Hebrew means, "to cross over". In this context it means to those like Abraham, who have crossed over from death to life. So the author is addressing to those who have, "come out of her" and into The Covenant of Promise", no matter if they were Jew or Gentile.

The term Hebrew is referring to a Hebrean. It's made quite clear in the following passages. Acts 6:1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. 2 Corinthians 11:22 Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I. Philippians 3:5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; A Gentile who is born again does not literally become a Hebrean. It is true that all born again believers make up the Israel of God by faith in Jesus Christ, but that doesn't change their ethnic background. The apostle Paul obviously understood that the term Hebrew was pointing to the fact that you were from that genealogy. We can become Jews spiritually speaking by faith in the gospel, but our ethnic background isn't literally changed so that we can be referred to as Hebrews. We can be called the Israel of God (Jews spiritually speaking), but our ethnic background remains the same. I feel Hebrews was written to literal Hebrews or else Paul (the author of Hebrews) could have easily just written to the church and made it very clear. The reason Hebrews can be difficult to understand is due to the overall Jewish orientation of the book. Paul expects the readers to have a detailed understanding of the Jewish priesthood, tabernacle, and sacrificial system. Gentiles would not have had any firsthand experience with the Jewish sacrificial system. This along with apostasy passages of the dangers of reverting back to Judaism are some of the main reasons why I believe it was written to Hebrew Christians.

@@ShatteringFalseFoundations Thank you for the reply but I'm not sure how the Scriptures you listed disprove my understanding or a Hebrew as being one who "crossed over", but now I'm curious why you believe Paul wrote the letter to the Hebrews. Blessings

@@twenty-fivethirty-six3946 Those Scriptures list the word “Hebrew” and they are referring to a Hebrean. Look it up: Strong’s G1445. Those Scriptures are the only uses of that word in the New Testament and not one of those uses is referring to one who has crossed over from death to life (the meaning of the word “ibriy” from Genesis 14:13 doesn’t have anything to do with the context of the Greek word Hebraios). Only those in the covenant line of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob by natural descent are called Hebrews. In Acts 6:1, two Israelite groups are named: Hellenistic Jews against the native Hebrews. This understanding can be carried into the entire subject matter of Hebrews and see that it’s written to those who were immersed in the Jewish sacrificial system. Gentiles would not need to be warned to not revert to Judaism nor would they have been persecuted like Hebrew Christians would have been during that time. Context of the entire letter to the Hebrews points to this understanding.

@@ShatteringFalseFoundations I agree that Paul is "likely" the author, but there's also evidence against this, mainly how Paul begins every letter with his name, so I was hoping you had some concrete evidence. If by that statement you are concluding that we are still waiting to enter the “thousand years” of Revelation 20, then I’m afraid you are mistaken. The “thousand years” of Revelation 20 is speaking of the entire church age where we rule and reign in life by Jesus Christ. We must make sure we enter God’s rest in this life by being born again and depending on and abiding in Him alone. If we don’t do that now, then there’s going to be no future time for that to happen once Jesus returns and the judgment takes place.
