I play girls lacrosse. It's always the older men officials that are best because they explain what you did wrong so we would understand what the call was. There was this one official that told my team chin up when we walked off the field after a loss. A moment I will never forget ❤

Parents are the reason there are far less refs in youth sports like this. It is no longer worth it to try to set a good example because parents are willing scream, swear and assault refs over missed or blown calls or simply because they feel their little angel never does anything wrong. I saw a drunk father, that was also a local cop, screaming at a ref because a call went against his son's team. That is why you don't see these people out there with our kids anymore.

I agree, these players are young men, they are still learning the game and sportsmanship!

We also need more sports parents who teach their children good sportsmanship.

I love people with a passion for the sport. I was never good at basketball until one of the parents from the yogurt league I was in saw that I was struggling and specifically mentored me after the teams practice. I ended up learning a lot and found my love for the sport too. And I got pretty damn good

They r so lucky to have a ref like that! My referees for soccer either: Have a thick accent that nobody can understand or never call anything!

I agree, great job! And I love the fact how he turned around with them and didn’t face either one and potentially show favoritism, but also to hide his words! Very intelligent ref! He should be given more high profile games bc he deserves it over all of these other horrible refs and Umps out there!!!

I played with a referee named Steve Honzo. Great person and always gave not only game advice but also life advice during games. That was many years ago and glad to see this ref is doing the same.

THIS is how you handle these young men! More coaches and PARENTS need to see this and pay attention!
