It's healthy to cry and sharing those experiences together made us closer and helped with our depression. I think every Naruto fan cried during these remastered scenes. Numerous reasons why Neji was the one to have died, several of which were elaborated on within the show. 1) Because him choosing to die when and where is the choice his father never got to make, and so he completed his character arc by sacrificing himself for someone who broke that fate for him (Naruto) and for someone who he didn’t want to protect before (Hinata, sacrificing himself this time for love for his sister than out of clan duty). Neji once called him a failure, and Naruto proved him wrong and told him he could change his fate too since he’s a genius. Like the “genius” he is, Neji saved Naruto and changed his fate, that’s why his last words were “because you called me a genius” and showed the bird flying. 2) The hyuga clan’s branch system acted as a microcosm of the cruel ninja world, that the world like the hyuga clan is like a bird cage you can’t get out of. That’s why Obito kept making comparisons to Neji to Naruto and you can even see in one panel that the Ten Tails’s tails forming a bird cage around the battlefield. That is also why Naruto and a squad of people, Rock Lee and Hinata among them, form a giant bird of chakra to break through the Ten Tails’s tails, symbolically breaking the bird cage. 3) Neji was one of those people who thought they were special and that they can see fate because of the eyes they were born with, conforming themselves into it, just like Obito (and Kakashi who tried to see through the world with Kakashi’s eye), Madara (who thought him awakening the Rinnegan was meant to make him the Sage of the 6 Paths, not realizing everything he was doing was according to Black Zetsu’s plan and ends up dying in his blind spot), Nagato (similar story as Madara), and Sasuke (who awoke the EMS and Rinnegan and thought everything was aligning perfectly for him to be the next great evil). Naruto proved him wrong, that fate isn’t something to conform to, and that you can defy it, and that you don’t need special eyes to do so. That too much vision can blind you. That’s why Neji said, “sometimes your eyes can see better than mine, you are the only one who can see through the darkness and save Sasuke” and that’s why Neji was shown again in the final Naruto and Sasuke fight. 4) Neji was a genius, him dying like fodder, never able to live up to his potential, was meant to illustrate how senseless war and the world can be, which is why many characters were incredulous that he died just like that. It was intentional. 5) last but not least, Kishimoto stated in an interview that Neji was a guardian Angel to bring Naruto and Hinata together. It’s a bit of a disingenuous reason to kill a character off for shipbait, but as stated above, he still managed to use Neji in a variety of effective ways.

You forgot the main reason. Kishimoto needed to kill off someone at that time for plot and emotional moment for the audience. Neji was big enough for the audience and naruto to care but not big enough for him to have any hinderance to the story going forward. He simply just picked one of many good side characters he forgot about and decided to off him.

Guy living was a vehicle to show how different and evolved Naruto had become. The whole series we knew "unlock 8 gates and you die 100% no exceptions". The art style upgrade from Boruto in this animation makes me think that Naruto got one of the best treatments when it comes to having a modernized anime art style. The techniques don't rely on having too many wrinkles, shadows, and cheap lighting like it's a normal modern anime. The modern style with the shadows and how the eyes are especially drawn just makes Naruto have its own distinct boldness that isn't try hardy

It's been so many years since I finished watching Naruto, I started watching the Original Naruto on Cartoon Network as a kid then Shippuden when I was a teenager. The weekly wait for a single episode was FRUSTRATING especially if it ended on a cliffhanger and we would be getting filler episodes/breaks after that. It was my first time watching this Anniversary video and it damn near made me tear up... all the time Ive devoted to this show, it was amazing and I do not regret rewatching it with you guys on Patreon/KZbin from the beginning.

Fun fact the Naruto anime was going to do a special for episode reboot or not so much a reboot but they were gonna do four mini episode from before Sasuke left the village for the 20th anniversary unfortunately the episodes of since been put on hiatus and there hasn’t been any information since so chances are it has been cancelled.

it's a trailer because the studio who makes naruto planned to do 4 new naruto episodes with this type of animation like a year or 2 ago now but they delayed it and they've never came out but most ppl think it's because they had to work on bleach and the studio who made naruto also made bleach and black clover but as of now it's not confirmed if they will ever drop those episodes plus they also had to cancel the boruto anime due to bad animated episodes cause of the studios hard conditions for the boruto staff

Neji's death had another meaning. Remember his original hangup was that his father was sacrificed for the head family, He later learned his father basically forced that to happen, even knocking his brother out so he wouldn't stop him. Neji's father's gave as the reason that it was his way of finally being free. Remember all the caged bird symbolism around Neji. And so, Neji sacrificing himself for Naruto, knowing that Hinata loved him, was him doing the same thing.

Neji's death sets up growth for certain characters in Naruto... Kaguya set up foreshadowing for new enemies. I don't really like boruto very much but they have some gem moments momoshiki mmn that movie fight was one of the sickest fights I've seen. I wish they would watch the boruto movie

are you watching this before or after the final movie? there are several very good reasons why it was neji sacrificing in the war to protect both naruto and hinata, one of the reasons(not spoiler) was that is fate was always to protect the main branch of the hyuga clan aka hinata but in his final moments he decided to do it on his own free will without the activation of the curse mark and for the love for hinata and respect for naruto. ofc i missed neji because he didnt get to see the way the hyuga would change with narutos promised but i believe it was a fitting end nonetheless
