Pteranodon USED to be the original baby hunter back in spiro and now it feels like an AI hunter and "spotter" if you choose to mixpack or be an alarm for species to find each other. Like, I still enjoy Pteranodon but it just isn't involved, it can't peck organs or pickup food on the land from pecking it and with the new map design + the stamina rework... you're almost never going to engage AND kill someone since they understand all that needs to be done is to hug a tree to provoke you to crash or give up the hunt. It's just not what it used to be but if they want it to be a scavenger truly instead of the baby hunter it was, I really think it should have 2 concepts added to it. 1, like mentioned, the ability to pickup food/organs mid flight so you can actually steal from a corpse like the vulture you're ssupposed to be rather than hoping everyone leaves the body and you can get scraps(you won't, the cera that smells it from 2 miles away will though and he'll eat you if he sees you touching the corpse too). 2, speed should dictate a damage multiplier so that there's incentive to climbing in altitude and gliding down at mach 7 to peck something in one go rather than being this weird low damage that you need to match the speed of your target to pull off. This would give it so much identity as a scavenger and allow it to even be a baby hunter again if they managed to apply the idea right. Just imagine a group of these things coming down like jets in a wave and sweeping the ground, coming up, and sweeping back around to pick off babies and smaller creatures for food, then again for their organs to snatch before all the creatures around them start smelling and picking at it. I get they want to have incentive for it to land but it already suffers from stamina cost until we get vents and even then I'm skeptical about its stamina with that added, drinking water, and being able to just standard... EAT. We also cling to trees where herreras look for us when we need stamina, so when you add a larger flying creature into the mix, pteranodon has plenty of predators as is. We should be ENCOURAGED to fly, not provoked to land or else I can just play something that already handles land terrain well lol. As for Quetzal.... I always imagined this thing using size to the mechanics of it. This thing should be picking up juvi's and certain sizes OFF THE GROUND and dropping them on their ass. I love the concept of this giraffe bird gripping onto something and taking it away to a mountain top to combat and eat in peace or just outright decide to drop it on the ground to kill it. Having enough stamina to take it off to begin with and then the stamina to actually keep carrying it. Easy enough, different gameplay from pteranodon right out the gate and a predator or larger creature that could hunt pteranodon's too. Then you'd have one tankier big boy that does heavy lifting and better stamina control and one speedy boi that swoops for immediate damage at the cost of their stamina to gain the damage having them rely on their skill to "dogfight" a Quetzal in midair. They won't do any of this though.

The problem with Quetz is what is your options to get away safely? Imagine you just grew out of juvenile, you are walking to your MZ which is in an open plain and suddenly you are grabbed by a Quetz. What choice do you have as a player? If you can struggle out your best bet is youve got a fractured leg and you are almost dead.

The answer to both of those is to be aware of your surroundings, look up and you might spot a quetz before it's too late, of course you'll still get ambushed but you can definitely behave in a way that helps you avoid that

Nah I think Dondi is busy making his team develop 10 extra apex animals, that we probably won’t see until the year 2094
@Gore-Labs15 күн бұрын
I think having Dimorphodon would be fun too. Maybe make it a much weaker cera of the skies, an agile little scavenger that relies heavily on bleed but doesn’t do much raw damage and doesn’t have much health. They could also serve as human hunters. Either way, I really want to see more fliers, and just any dinos that can traverse in more unique ways other than walking and swimming.
@flashgordon651016 күн бұрын
OMG, yes, yes! We definitely need at least one more flyer. Even one similar to ptera that we could have air battles with and EAT. I love ptera, but it's so weak and slow that there is nothing to do with it, which is sad In the early days, you could actually be a menace. I miss that. Did you notice that in the horde test, the pterodactyls are back and they can grab the fish right out of your beak after you catch one? But you can't kill the pterodactyls - so unfair. And please, the stam! I know "air currents" are coming, but when??

To be honest all biomes needs more creatures and not only playables but critters what you can interact with or just eat. The water is dead more or less beyond few fish and crabs and frogs. It is a starvation simulation but could be fixed with more edibles. Insects and other creatures could source you more food.

Quick heads up Tapejara and Tulpandactylus are both different species of tapejarid pterosaurs And it's a little questionable if Tulpandactylus was actually a herbivore, it most likely was a facultative herbivore, leaning more towards omnivory.

Maby they should add more herbivores pterosaurs. Maby they could integrate climbing into those herbivores pterosaurs. Like for example a Tapijara would land on and climb around high trees to find fruit. instead of the jump that herrasaurus has it has a flutter jump that can go as far it it need to but at a slightly slower speed than Herrasaurus's jump. If it is hunted by a herrasaurs its a better idea to try fly away because the herrasaurus will be faster in the trees.

many many years ago Punch and Dondi have confirmed that an unknown herbivorous flyer was planned for the game but over the years we havent heard a word of it anymore. Back in 2019 I had the chance to ask Punch personally about it and he said that they MIGHT experiment with that concept. That was a slap in the face cause I REALLY REALLY loved the idea of a herbivore flyer :(

the road map for dinosaurs seems to have a decent amount of redundancies from what I remember, like utah when we have omni. more flyers for more niches would be nice, but from what I remember I think it should have more full semi-aquatics like deino. coastal ones like Tanystropheus would be cool, especially if they flush out the coast with reefs, more AI fish, and AI Sharks eventually

Absolutely! While I think Isle has roster bloat especially when it comes to carnivores, the vertical space is underutilized with only pteranodon, eventually quetz, as the only pterosaurs, herrerasaurus and hopefully hypsi living in the trees, the air is pretty empty. Not only could we use something like tupa that eats fruit, but I think we can also use something small like rhamphorynchus, dimorphodon, or even better anurognathus. Something small that can live in the jungle canopy eating bugs or whatnot. Edit- I disagree with your statement on Styraco. As biablo is more like a mini trike, styraco has more niche potential with impaling or bleed. Diablo is more like a cow whereas styraco is more like a rhino.

For what? The isle is about the jungle in general. Where to fly there? There is a pteranodon, it should live in coastal biomes, which have not yet been developed, the air giant Quetzal is planned as a flying analogue of the T. rex, and that’s quite enough, as for me.

i mean let's use path for example, the second hatz came out no one gave a shit about thal, same will likely happen with ptera (especially if they fully commit to making ptera ground based). my issues with adding more pterosaurs is that flying is objectively speaking over powered, so adding too many pterosaurs could leave the ground based playables with little play compared to the flyers, the reason you don't see this currently is because there's only one flyer and it's dogshit
@halfslyced15 күн бұрын
That's because in path, creatures have little to no mechanic or ecological differences. So of course people are going to choose the bigger and better flyer. The isle at least gives its creatures different mechanics so they could tailor the flyers to fill different gaps and people would choose the behavior they would rather indulge
