Yeah, I generally pride myself on being open-minded, and understanding a wide range of political ideologies. But ethno-nationalism has to be one of the most stupid and pointless philosophies in existence. The other day I literally saw someone say _"I don't care about values, I just want to protect my people."_ Obsessing over blood-lines is such an arbitrary and meaningless thing to dedicate energy to.

Why are values not arbitrary and meaningless?
@andybrice27112 ай бұрын
@@foundation3514 Because values are typically based in something somewhat rational. There are obviously different philosophies about what constitutes the good. But most everyone generally agrees it has something to do with mimimizing suffering and promoting human flourishing or spiritual fulfilment. Whereas _“The people living on this area of land should all have the same ancestors and look similar.”_ Has barely any substantial moral philosophy behind it. It’s the kind-of smooth-brained proto-morality that you might expect from a toddler or a caveman. Sure you can make some argument about familial loyalty and inheritance. But you really have to stretch that to make ethno-nationalism a primary value. That’s why ethno-nationalist movements nearly always have to resort to elaborate mythology and intimidation rather than persuasive arguments. Again, much like the identity politics of the radical left.

So, if Zewditu Gebreyohanes changed her name by deed poll to Susan Smith, would you accept her as English? If she married a pale Mr. Smith and called her kids Sam and Pat would you consider them English? I've never met someone with white skin. The only people I've met with almost black skin have spent recent months or years in sub-Saharan Africa. A "white" friend of long English/Welsh ancestry went to Greece for two weeks and she came back darker than a couple of Jamaican heritage girls we know. So white can be darker than black and black paler than white. It's all a bit of a nonsense. If someone accepts our moral values and makes the effort to integrate culturally (especially language fluency) then I accept them. It's people like Zewditu who will preserve our history, not those who hate this country and its past. The British are really Bit-ish - a bit of this and a bit of that. May I suggest you trace your own ancestry, if you haven't already?

Suggesting that everyone is a monolith in Ethiopia. Also those artifacts were stolen from Ethiopia and kept by places like Westminster Abbey. What type of church keeps stolen goods? What type of person keeps the remains of a dead prince and refuses to give him back? Britian has lots to be proud of but that's definitely not something they should be proud of.
