I think HAs shift to CGC has a lot to do with relationships. Jim Halerin and Steve Ivy (HA) are friends and business partners with Mark Salzberg, and Steve Eichenbaum (CGC). It also happened shortly after Wata was sold to Collector's Universe, with CU also owning Goldin at the time. It would make sense HA wouldn't want to promote and send business to a sister company of one of their largest competitors.

I've had some bad anecdotal experiences with CGC, and I'm sure many have had the same with Wata. For me it just boils down to which case/label you like better. I prefer Wata personally.

I'm quite sure that the production costs of the acrylic cases alone aren't cheap. I once tried to purchase boxes in large quantities directly from a manufacturer, and the best price I was offered back then was around €18 (approximately $20). So, it's understandable why the price for replacing the case is set at $25. I don't believe this will ever become cheaper.

Lead times have quite literally triple for me over this year, in Feb i had an order come back in 15 business days, then in July it took 33 business days, now in January I have an order already at 43 business days with virtually no update. Glad this will be my last order before the price increase.

But god damn it *WHERE ARE THE POP REPORTS?!* 😂 Considering the WATA/HA controversies, we should expect CGC to be transparent and building a pop report from day one as a bare minimum, when becoming HA's new favorite. Are there any news about a pop report coming, or are we going in blind Again?

I’ve always preferred the CGC cases to be honest. Do they do Japanese games yet? I still think VGA is a safe bet. Can’t beat the originals

They do sooome Japanese right now but still waiting for stuff like N64 and Famicom to be rolled out

I hope CGC can finally get more platforms supported, I want to send Famicom, Famicom Disk, and JP Gamecube but they don't support it yet.

Has CGC released their population reports? It also does seem that every few months WATA or CGC have promo sales. If you're not in a rush, I'd use whatever is cheaper.

The price change couldn't have come at a WORSE time. And you'd think they give dealers a heads up? Nope! I find out like everybody else. Now I'm scrambling to finish cleaning comics, games, and tapes before the price change. Id be all for it if it came with faster turnaround times and new amenities to the membership, but nope. I have 60 VHS tapes sitting there waiting to be graded since October.... and no census for video games or VHS tapes coming anytime soon....

I actually love CGC there video games, VHS and sports cards as well as non-sports cards. I like the fact that it’s all in one house awesome video Greg you’re pumping them out pretty good.

Cgc cases are pure trash, tho. They're flimsy and awkwardly shaped. They'd be much better if they made them a solid "block" like the new WATA case.

It's bound to continue unless WATA rebrands to PSA cuz otherwise you have one very respected brand (CGC) competing against a totally trashed brand (WATA) and I do believe that'll make the difference tho WATA's case is superior to CGC's, except for the top label on CGC's which is nice plus you can make cat steps with the CGC cases.

What’s funny is two videos below yours on my KZbin feed is a video that nobody wants CGC comics… that CGC is dead! Hahaha plus I’ve heard similar things from card collectors. Obviously, CGC Pristine brings top dollar on Pokemon cards, but everything else is less valuable. I’m interested to hear your view on CGC graded games!

I don't think cgc is gonna take off. It's a nice gotcha article. People will think CGC is so great because they see $$ but in reality there weren't any wata comps this year

That 9.2 looks like a wata 8.5 IMO the 9.0 wata that sold for 870k looks way better than the 9.2 im betting some of that had to do with it as well! I have a 9.2 wata Gameboy game that blows that thing out of the water I bet if I crossed it to vga it’s easy 9.4 maybe somehow 9.6. I think they overgrade like crazy. But they don’t sell for much more if even the same unless you get the 10 or 9.9 plus those cases are UGLY AS FUCK! Look like a blister hanger hybrid it’s only missing the HANGTAB spot no thanks if they changed the blue and went to a block case it’s game over I could do CGC but until that happens no thanks!
