We had a consult from Joe. We had done our homework and hit the ground running. His tips make sense if you already know the mushroom growing cycle. His knowledge of the grow cycle common knowledge. What was good was his knowledge of grow flow, equipment use, and business sense. Thank you Joe. Be Well and Good Journey.

The way you said shroomery made me laugh. I scoured the web for years before I started, shroomery, reddit, all the big mushroom business KZbin channels. By far you are the most straightforward with how all this works. The business side of things is what I'm working on now before I take it seriously. Thanks for all your insight!

Thank you so much. Thats what I've been aiming for and feel is missing with a lot of youtube content regarding mushroom farms.

I absolutely agree with you 100 percent. The problem is that people ( not all but majority of) who are asking questions , they don't do their homework, self educating, all the info is out there. And you are right,, they fail because they don't listen,, they don't try hard enough to succeed, first failure and they are done. They think that it is easy to grow mushrooms at home,, yes,, it is easy, BUT everything needs basic knowledge to start and be willing to repeat the process after first failure. Everybody makes mistakes, has failures and so on,, I guess,, it is not for everyone,, also you have to kinda love it to do this job or just like a hobby. Good luck to you and take care. Martin

Nailed it! We have avoided any tours for this exact reason. Keep mushing on bro, excited for your expansion!

As a normal person I understand now more about why people won't give farm tours. But knowing where your food comes from is really important to me. I've toured all the farms I get my produce and meat from. I suppose I'm just saying it would be nice if there was something more like a paid tour and less like a consultation for people who just want to see what's going on not to do it themselves. It's the kind of thing that happens in vineyards and at the end you go and buy a bottle of wine. So at the end of the mushroom farm tour you could sell fresh mushrooms and maybe even mushroom kits for over market value. I get that most people aren't running big enough operations for that to make sense but it would just be really cool.

Good advice. I started with BRF half pints from spore. Then moved on to LC, then LC to grain, the grain to spawn. Kept my LCs around long enough get back around to reprinting, learning agar work and how to do isolations. Just baby steps from the most simple method and slowly master established technique. I heard you mention Jiu-Jitsu. I'm in my 24th year of BJJ and I constantly see white belts show up wanting to learn the latest subs. You have to tell them to learn to play guard first. Perfect parallel.

We have a no tours policy, which is good because we get a tour request every week, and we live in NZ which means only a few people have access. We have a 3 month mentorship program for people really interested in starting a business, but as you said, most people want information for free. Usually the people who want everything for free wont succeed in the business.

Thank you for being upfront and giving us a talking to. What you say is common sense but that is lacking out there among the masses of snowflakes that can't handle the facts. Keep up the good work and best of luck to you and your family. We appreciate you. Shroom on!

Love the video. We do zero consults and zero tours. Time is limited and we make more money with dealing with current customers. Of course, if we need a consult, we pay for it. It’s the RIGHT thing to do!

Good rant, my friend. This is a hard topic in that those of us interested in cultivating mushrroms--whether for home use or farmer's markets or full-blown commercial production--want to share knowledge. But those who want "free" lessons on how to start their mushroom business (basically come over and copy your set up and teks) are stealing. The consult of $100-$300 for a couple of hours of your valuable time is worth it, for the true and aspiring mycologists. Thank you for your service.

In my area, a local farm shared info freely and then the people turned around and opened a mega farm and sell at 1/2 price the rest of us are selling at undercutting us all!

Do you sell your culture? Where is a good source to buy. My lions mane yields not as quite good like I have seen on your pictures, when bears head doing good in the same condition. They are more pinkish which is I think ok, but it is more concerns they starting form teeth before it’s forming a good body. And not mature as I wanted. Can a lot of fresh air harm mushrooms? My humidity is 90%. Master mix 4lb dry pellets 6lb water Thank you
@cactushatmushrooms3677 Жыл бұрын
Fresh air cant hurt them but direct hits of air to fruit bodies can ruin them. The culture im using is from Mushroom Maggies and was purchased many years ago. These days the strain is known as Lions Pride and can be purchased on the mycelium emporium.

Tbh i think cardboard would sell better for lions mane containers, hippies like more eco friendly packaging also mushies have a short shelf life ao it a not like the plastic does mich for freshness

Wait. Now I'm confused. You don't like the bucket tek. I was just considering giving it a try. It's exactly how north spore started from what I understand. Even used the bucket Tek on a commercial level for a bit.
@cactushatmushrooms3677 Жыл бұрын
It depends. If I'm a hobbyist sure buckets are fine. If I'm growing actual volume I want nothing to do with buckets. The work that goes into cleaning each one and the water use to do it simply isn't for me.
