I used to be a full time missionary in one of the larger Pentecostal denominations (before waking up and leaving the church altogether). You're spot on about the hypnosis techniques being used. What most Christians don't understand is that 1) these techniques exist, and 2) they're used in nearly all churches, not just the big megachurches or super high energy pentecostal ones. The thing is, most Christian pastors/evangelists/missionaries aren't aware that the techniques they're using are hypnosis techniques. These things have simply become part of the culture of Christian worship services / preaching, reinforced by generations of people in those services believing they're feeling the "spirit of God" moving, when in reality it's perfectly explainable biological responses which can and have been reproduced in non-religious laboratory settings. I would also add that while most ministers don't understand the truth behind why these techniques work (ie, they're not intentionally hypnotizing people), there are some who understand exactly what they're doing. Especially in some of the larger megachurches. I like to point people towards Darren Brown to help them understand how non-supernatural (but powerful) these things can be. He's an extremely skilled mentalist who usually focuses on non-religous performances but has created a few specials specifically aimed at (successfully) reproducing the experience of many modern day Christians. He once trained an actor (and non-believer) to successfully infiltrate the "faith healing" Christian community. He also once convinced an entire room of self-professed atheists that God was real using some pretty impressive techniques (before eventually telling them the truth so they understood what had - and had not - happened). He even recreated a Pentecostal-ish church service himself once, where he had a line of people out the door who all believed they had been healed, despite having been clearly and repeatedly told at the beginning of the "service" by Darren that nothing that was about to happen was supernatural. I grew up in the church. I saw these types of things happen every single week. I experienced them myself too many times to count. I also attended a kids' camp for multiple summers that functioned exactly like the one in the excellent documentary "Jesus Camp." And yes, the adults in that camp pressured me into believing I too had been "filled with the holy spirit" and could speak in tongues - which I did on a daily basis for years thereafter. I used to spend literally hours every day in private prayer, worship, and Bible reading. And that was outside of all the stuff I did as a full time missionary. And while I did genuinely help people as a result of my work, there are plenty of things I regret. Thank you for making this video. We need more people to not only call out this crap, but point out the similarities between well known hypnosis / mentalist techniques and what happens in an average church service. It sucks that the average Christian is unaware of these things, and that so many are taken advantage of as a result. I love your content in general - but this one hits especially hard. Keep up the good work.

There's a YT channel called "Ready To Harvest" that's dedicated to explaining the beliefs & practices of every Christian denomination along with comparing & contrasting their similarities & differences. The host approaches the subject with absolutely no bias. There have always been loony churches, but they've gained popularity only (fairly) recently. I encourage people who are seeking a **truly** Bible-based church without the hypnosis, hysterics, "healing," "fruits of the spirit" and rock concerts to try attending a Church of Christ service.

At 18:30, in respect of speaking in tongues... in every biblical account there will always be a person who will understand the language as it is spoken to him/her, or, there is an interpreter that will give the translation to the people. If there is nobody present who does not understand, then it is not real. That is what the bible says. On one occasion, i attended a church with an elderly friend who was a retired archeologist that specialised in the "bible lands". Near us, a very young caucasian man in the congregation stood up and began speaking in tongues. My friend said to me, "I understand what he is saying". He said the man was speaking an ancient almost extinct variation of the Aramaic language. My friend then in turn stood up and told the congregation what the man was saying who was speaking in tongues. My friend said that only very few people, apart from academicas himself would know the language.

I'm 9 minutes in and had to pause to comment. I've actually seen this video before on a channel that calls out false teachers. That entire chaotic mayhem is fake. I know that because, you know, common sense. But also, as a Christian, I know that when the Apostles were casting demons in their time, they weren't having whole conversations with them. They also only had to command them to leave once and they did. That's it. No power trips, no crazy show. Just "come out in Jesus' Name" and they obeyed. Very simple, very quick. This stuff is outright sinful, ironically... Edit: The only difference between his "prophesying" and a fortune teller or psychic is that he's using God as his alleged source, rather than spirits, tarot cards, etc. Edit 2: As for the tongues, they are a spiritual gift. But not everyone has it. Furthermore, God may only use it with someone one time in their entire life. You can't learn it, it can't be prayed into you through the laying on of hands. It's very clear in Scripture that it's purpose is to edify the church and glorify God. On the day of Pentecost, when all those people were speaking in other tongues, the "other tongues" were actual languages spoken by others that were present. The whole point was for everyone to see the power of God and the Truth spoken by His Apostles. Everyone understood their own language being spoken by other people who didn't actually know what they themselves were saying. Now all these Pentacostal Churches say that speaking in tongues is a sign that always accompanies the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but that's simply not true. In fact, even the Scriptures only mention it happening 2 or 3 times out of at least 7 or 8 Holy Spirit baptisms It mentions. Most simply were baptized in the Spirit and spoke the Word of God boldly, which is precisely what happened to me. I know that's real because it happened before I even knew about any of this stuff. My whole testimony is crazy but it's also awesome. ✝️✝️✝️
