As someone with a passing interest in American football and Moral Orel, I think I maybe able to help with some of the terminology on the chalkboard! Please note that the only qualifications I have to assist are very surface-level and I did look up stuff to try and back up what I already know. (also please note that I'm explaining the terms on the chalkboard and if any clarification is needed, please ask!!!) Down and Out - a passing play where the quarterback throws the ball to a pre-arranged wide receiver. The play is called during the huddle before lining up for the snap. It's considered a quick execution play and typically done in a 3rd-down situation. Up and In - I couldn't find any terminology matching this on a cursory search, however, based on the above, I think it's also a reference to a type of play called before the snap. Instead of being a passing play, it would be a running play where the ball in handed to a player who runs up the middle(?). Tight End - an offensive player position who doubles in defending the quarterback and running to catch passes in the field. Buttonhook - a running pattern by a receiver in which they appear to run a fly pattern then suddenly stop and turn after a set number if steps/yards to look for an oncoming pass. Reach Around - a type of block in which an offensive lineman reaches out across a defender's body to block them from making a play on the ball. Going Deep - a type of long pass attempt made by the quarterback or when a player gets into position to catch one. Last Resort/Hail Mary - a last-ditch effort by the quarterback in the final minutes of the game where they throw the ball downfield as far as they can. It seemed like both terms based on my cursory searching came up as the same thing, so I think the main distinction between the two lies in a decision made before the snap (last resort) and the execution during the play (hail mary). I have more thoughts on the drawing itself too, but I'm finding it hard to type it out right now! I may reply or edit this later when I've got my thoughts together on it :)

Adding onto this, an up and in could be a quarterback running play too (thinking of Cam Newton). I can't imagine the restraint a bunch of Gen X people would have to have to be making football jokes and not work in the word sack at any point

Not sure how relevant this is (though considering it seems like Up and In isn't an extant phrase outside of the show, I'd put some stock in it) but there is another instance of Down and Out and Up and In being said by a character and compared, it's said by reverend puddy at some point during a sermon in season 1, I can't remember which episode but it is definitely there.

I think the different hair on Blobberta in the photos isn't necessarily to place it exactly contemporary with "Help," but rather the animators had to just visually denote the photos were taken sometime in the general "past," long enough ago to be before the conception of Shapey, rather than leaving them open to being interpreted as recent photos.

Somehow it never fully occurred to me how Stopframe inviting Orel to his house WASN'T an appropriate thing to do, I guess cause I thought "oh, well... he's just coming to terms w how he saw/ see's Clay and they're just being friends in this moment." which may be how Orel saw the situation but it took this video for it to actually set in the Clay and Bloberta's reactions were valid there. I really enjoy these videos as a way of seeing different perspective on these characters and hearing you all discuss the they're choices on a deeper, analytical level (as someone who struggles to see characters more than how they're blatantly described in the show, this channel feels educational in a way even if it's mostly opinions. So thank you for making these videos!)

Sometimes it’s hard to see one character’s actions from any view other than an omniscient observer with information that the other characters lack. I kinda knew on some level that what Stopframe did was inappropriate, because it would be in real life, but it took you spelling it out for me to think about that more consciously. It’s really weird how easy it is to forget the gravity of a situation in the show simply because we as the viewers have so much more context than any of the characters

I always translated Danielle's rejection at the end as him being sick of the fact that Clay couldn't just let go of his straight facade. Clay couldn't tell Danielle he loved him, it had to be through Orel

I'm sad that I missed it when it was airing, because it is so cathartic for me. I was raised in a very similar home as Orel, with two evangelical alcoholic parents who hated each other: a neurotic, clingy, image-obsessed mother and an abusive, narcissistic father who stayed together purely for appearances.

I've always had this headcanon that Danielle and Dr. Secondopinionson were half brothers with a similar age gap to Joe and his sister, and it is used as a subtle juxtaposition between the two sets of siblings, just with the parental roles reversed. Instead of having the same father and different mothers, like Joe and his sister, Danielle and the Dr. have the same mother but different fathers.

35:50 Perhaps his God is just Clay Puppington? He certainly seems to practice that religion more often and consistently than Christianity or Satanism.
@Lampetia15 күн бұрын
That or Clay is his proof of God. That to attain the relationship Danielle had fantasized for years would satisfy his belief in a higher power. Danielle walks a very agnostic line where he very much believes in a higher power, but can’t fully define that higher power as Christian god, because he is taught that god would reject him or have no hand in making him. My take is he focused on Clay because he saw someone else like him and thought if he can mold Clay to be the love he imagined then there is a god who loves them and molded them too. But it seems at the end when he had time spent with Orel, who genuinely enjoyed Danielle’s company without needing him to fill any emotional gap, Danielle realized that Clay’s love may be real to Clay, but it was a very emotionally dependent love on a character that Danielle manufactured. Though Clay reciprocated the mothering from Danielle, it probably wouldn’t be long before Danielle became exhausted by successfully filling the role Bloberta desperately wanted to. Because Danielle seems to have no respect for the people he sees as pawns. And once the chase was over, what else could he have done with Clay? There’s no way to Danielle could sincerely prove god to himself when he couldn’t convince himself that he wasn’t the “god” who just molded another man in his image.

Can you guys please do a video on Ms.Secondopinionson (joes half sister) as a transgender woman I heavily relate to her vocal dissonence for me personally I try to train my voice to sound much more femminine mainly for myself but also a lot of it is sociataly pressured and I usually keep to myself for anxiety reasons. Anyway, weather she is transgender or not I find her to be tragically relateable and often overlooked and she has very little screen time but I just think the way she treats joe was incredibly sweet and doesent stop him from beating up his cenile father after he finds out about what he had done. I also really love the fact that she is so patient with him. I see a lot of myself in her because of how much I have to deal with childish behaviour from my parents and new people sometimes despite putting so much effort in myself and help I can give, I also adore how she subtly hints for joe to go live with his real mom as they have a lot in common and it would be a safe healthy environment for him to be in while also giving nurse bendy someone who can bring her joy and comfort potentially. Idk I would just love to see an analasis of Ms.Secondopinionson because she is so real and up there with stefanie for sure. They are both baddies and some of the only truly kind people in the show I get a feeling they would get along so well and if we ever got a sequel I feel like we could get some heartwarming and incredibly important moments with her but yeah im sorry if this isnt worded super well I love this show and im SPINNING

I always thought Danielle's religious beliefs were quite obvious. He clearly has a Christian basis for his view of reality but he has, to some extent, "gameified" it in the sense that he has an objective and wants to find the Most Effective Tactic Available. He's read the text and either failed to pick up on or purposefully ignores the prescribed morality of Christian doctrine. Being a Moraltonian, Christianity was pushed on him before he would have been at an age to ask questions. If he was ignorant to the prescribed morality or simply does not care for it, then he'd be unlikely to have much religious guilt about his identity to really care enough to consider the wider question of the Bible's accuracy. He sees "Satanists" or anything marked as "Satanic" and thinks "ah, yes. This group/object/method will leverage the power of the devil to help me." In reality, most things that brand themselves as Satanist are usually agnostic, but co-opt Christian symbols of evil to show their opposition to organised religion. He has a Christian perception of reality, but not a Christian set of values. (But this is Moralton, so who's to say?)

Hi so, Texan here, and attended football games regularly because that's where other events happen; The "Game Plan" is unfortunately Nonsense, as some of the terms are position terms while others are words for plays, and like not in a way that lines up, a Tight End is not a primary feature of a Hail Mary. There *is* some sense that it refers to a series of more and more desperate backup plans, as it progresses to Last Resort and then Hail Mary; which is a very long forward pass (which is generally obvious, can get badly caught by a defensive blitz, and also can be intercepted - the idea behind the name is you just throw and pray that it works), But no, there isn't a coherent, written out plan on the board, the football terms are *mostly* a hodgepodge

I'm kinda unsure about the discussion on how Danielle and Joe are related. Personally, I believe Danielle and Nurse Bendy being maternal half siblings is more plausible than him being a sibling of Dr. Secondopinionson or his late wife, especially given how elderly Dr. Secondopinionson (and by extension his wife) is implied to be. Since Stopframe is shown to be around the same age group as Clay (36 to 40), and Nurse Bendy is implied to be 24 in "Narcissist", that would mean those two would be roughly 12 to 16 years apart. While it's a bigger than normal age gap for siblings with only the same mother, it's definitely still possible. Perhaps each of them were products of their mother's respective relationships/marriages. Plus, them having the same mother but different fathers could easily explain not only the different last names, but also their lack of physical similarities. Much like how Orel and Shapey look almost nothing alike. Speaking of Shapey, while its purely speculation, perhaps Nurse Bendy could've been conceived the same way he was (through infidelity), and her birth could've been what had broken up the Stopframe family and began the Nursula family (or just her and her mother if Nursula was just a maiden name). This would mean Stopframe was acting out what had happened to his own family (minus the stalking), despite having been the "Orel" himself at one point. No disrespect to your guys' theories of course, there's so little info to go off of from what the show provided, I just don't really see it.

I love your theory and I also buy it more than him being related to Dr. Secondopinionson! There’s just one thing that I hope you don’t mind me correcting: Nursula is Nurse Bendy’s first name, Bendy is her last name

Someone being elderly doesn’t imply that their partner is elderly at all, especially in a town full of predatory men like this. Joe and Ms SO have an age gap exactly like the one you described and they are in fact siblings.

@@blossomentrails3398 The reason I believe that his wife was around the same age as him is mostly due to the fact that their daughter seems to be at least around Stephanie's age group (at least 30). Thank you, finally a normal analysis of our beloved Danielle. 😊 Also I think in my headcanon and what I observed, Danielle knows Clay loves him, they have this secret affair, but Clay never said "I love you" and Danielle wants more than being a secret gay lover. He aware he is a secret gay lover of Clay which he doesn't mind, but wants more that's why he said in the final episode "It's too late.". Their story is a tipical story of two gay men/women in the society like Moraltown, either we together or we in the closet. I think they didn't have problems with sleeping with someone else, only if there is no love, a lot of gay men do this, but the moment with Clay kissing Miss Censordoll was a betrayel for Danielle because they had a very romantic, intiment moment, probably planning on spending Christmas together and this kiss destroyed all of this. Also shown how emotional Danielle is despite claiming "I thought I was done with this whole emotional bisiness.".He just very protective of his personal matters. 😊😊😊 What's really interesting even Danielle stalked Clay which I think is flattering for him their relationship has not just phisycal, but emotional bond too which not a tread mark for a total stalking in their case, looks more like of extreme action to do out of desperation in some moment, but still stalking, but Clay I think enjoys it knowing Danielle a somewhere near by taking pictures of him while he peeing😂😂😂.Plus in the first season Clay gave Danielle his phone number where he wrote "Call me.!" So he wanted Danielle to call him. 😍😍😍 Why I also still think Clay still bisexual because he loved men and women, but was more built for men, but traumatic sex life with Bloberta leaved a scar on him. But even he may doesn't like them like individuals , but still draw for them physically, there are a lot people who don't like be with with opposed sex like lovers, but still like sex with them. I imagine Danielle the one gave Clay STDs😂😂 or get while tried to sleep with women in motel like others. 😂😂 What is a link of him being a devil is he's a blonde one and Lucifer has blonde hair in discription which is fun. Plus despite he has this image of macho man creators shown us his gay moments like pink his secretly favorite color, his pink purse in "Satan", a pink cigar in Before Orel, pink fur headphones and skates. Even how he holds his hands when he's running when sees Clay's face everywhere, he bulges his hands not holding them in the fist position , a very girly think to do. Like we think "What a masculine man with a deep voice a real man", and "No-no, look at this." 😂😅 Yeah also I agree he is an example of how a gay man would be like in the society like Moraltown. When you cannot just go on the date or met a guy in the bar, just guessing who like you. A lot of gay men choose this image of a macho man, but for him it looks natural he doesn't have this conflict with appearances like Clay to pretend being a man, but nothing inside. And this thing with fat people I don't see anything bad here at least from my opinion we all have preferences and he just not into this, but we know he could try. 😂😅 I agree he has obsessive personality, but for people who do professional sports is a normal thing and even helpful, imagine doing workouts over, over, and over, and over a normal one'd give up, but not our blondie.😊😊 Also yeah Danielle and Clay are two school girls. 😂😂 Come on sacrifice a someone just your crush run with you into sunset, all this overplaned plan, how he runs when Clay wants to see him, all this pictures of Clay, only missing a pink diary where Danielle wrote they whole happily even after in caligraphic girly handwriting😂😊. Loves Gothic erotica, our guy. 😊😊Plus Danielle has a strong female energy and it in balance with his masculine energy, he's in balance with both of these energies, Danielle cross might be a sign of his not just in between, but his inner beggings. When Clay has definitely more of female energy and rejecting it hurts him I think cross in middle position tells it. 😂🎉 Also about his relationship with God I think he wants love from God, but just choose what works, but he really wants, just more real on this because how church told how gay men is a sin of Satan he adapted this idea of satanism. He's really a sensitive one just doesn't show it, I mean if he weren't he wouldn't puke after seeing kiss between Clay and Miss Censerdoll. I'm a bisexual man myself for me Danielle is a really relateble and Clay too in some ways in the place where I live. So you're right saying how this character is relateble for LGBT , in some moments of course. Sometimes I fell like God doesn't love me for who I am. So yeah they perfect for each other, google fanart of them being together finally and there Clay's diploma of one year of being sober I think this is how fans see if they finally became couple dispute thir flows. Also I don't think he destroyed Puppington's family how you can destroyed what had been build with sand. I think Danielle met Bloberta when she already got married to Clay, because If she knew Danielle she won't choose first guy she saw at the wedding. Her whole point in "Help" being an outcast. Also when Clay kissed Miss Censerdoll Danielle's pink classes had benn broken he started noticing Clay's alcoholism when Clay offered eggnot nightcup, he responded "Does It have to night.?" and he said "It's always night in a some backward's culture". What he would not notice before, but sees how dependent on alcohol Clay is, but before in premier of Oral' s film he said "No you better when you drink.", I think he ask if he had problems, probably Bloberta or a someone else said and Danielle comforting his lover. But now no pink glasses he sees think in clear vision. Also I think Shapey'll be a gay too, just how he looked like his father in the final cut of final episode in police officer uniform. Same for Block. 😂😂 We also just can guessing about relationship between him and nurse Bendy without extra episodes. But he knows who Joe's mother is because he's part of the family, I think he and Miss Secondopinion have one mother, probably she had blond hair. I also heard from fans how Danielle probably is victim SA like Nurse Bendy, what can explain a lot, but probably just crazy fan idea of some Moral Orel's fans. Thanks for reading my 12 love page letter for Danielle I hope you read it and answer if you have questions. ❤❤❤

I have a fun time watching these analyses, i like what youre doing, and i understand how pathologising characters can be interesting to try and understand them from that lens, but saying that mental illnesses are soulmates sounds a little irresponsible? It starts going into territory where mental illness is not an issue people have and fight but just another set of traits that describes the whole of a person. I understand that its probably a bit of hyperboly to describe these specific characters, who are not real. I just think it might be taking it a bit far. Saying a virgo is soulmates with an aquarius doesnt have the same unintended effect as saying mental illnesses can make you soulmates ykno? keep up the good work

I was the person narrating that section, that was not me saying what you’ve described above at all. It was a sardonic/sarcastic figure of speech from someone who has borderline personality disorder (me) and was communicating information other people with BPD and NPD have described. I thought that the level of detail I put in to describing the way they can negatively enable each other would clear things up, hopefully other people who have your concern will see this reply and it will! Additionally, on your first sentence of the second paragraph. I mean this as politely as possible KZbin comments just don’t have bold format- but I do feel like my PERSONALITY disorder describes quite a bit of my PERSONALITY traits. So this will affect my analysis of characters. Hopefully this helps you to understand our intention, thank you for pointing that out so I could put this out there :)

@ Some things to keep in mind is that there has to be a healthy middle ground, it’s not healthy for anyone involved to not acknowledge reality. If you are diagnosed with a certain personality disorder, you have to fit the diagnostic criteria which isn’t an assumption about a person it’s just science and medicine. I think people are overthinking it, we can acknowledge how the circumstances of people who don’t have PD’s affect their personality and we acknowledge that this doesn’t stop them from growing or changing. It’s the same as people with personality disorders. I appreciate your openness to discussion and I appreciate that you enjoy what we do here, we try our best to explain things in an accessible way but sometimes it’s a bit of an exercise in context clues and critical thinking which causes positive and constructive conversations like these!
