I’m just excited to be excited to watch the Mavs again after last year’s debacle. I think people forget that Luka absolutely thrives on pressure which can be enough to give the Mavs that slight advantage over even the best teams come playoffs. Luka is a TUFF shot maker. He just pulls up and scores on you from anywhere at any time. I don’t think there’s a guy with tougher shot chart than Luka. Post, midrange, deep. All while being an ELITE rebounding guard AND dishing out near 10 assists a game, CRAZY behind the back type assists…. Luka is MUST SEE TV every single night. I watched nearly every Mavs game since Luka came in 2018… I watch every game i can because i KNOW i’m watching a future All-Time Great. It’s like watching Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, MJ, Kobe, etc… He’s just THAT guy.

I agree with most of what you said, except one point. Dallas had a great roll man before Lively. The Powell/Luka P&R was the most efficent P&R combination in the entire NBA last season. With Powell on the court our offense was allways better. So Lively doesnt help the Mavs on offense compared to Powell, he is helping us a lot on defense and with rebounding. Thats the difference between him and Powell.

Defense wise is worse that Jordan ofc, but he is improving, I don't think he needs to be DTOY or be part of the best defence team, just he needs to perform over an average guard in NBA, which i think he is doing this year. With that in the future, with rings and mvps, in my opinion he could be considered in that race. But at first I really cannot see that happening, dallas is not a good franchise historically to win multiple mvps in a single career.
