adidas have changed the Carbitex carbon fiber insert on the X Speedportal, meaning that it's now a piece of injected plastic instead. This has been done to add more flexibility and comfort to the boot, but also means that it loses a bit of that special responsiveness that no other speed boot had. Adidas X are my two boys’ boot of choice and they are a great boot to play in but for the ridiculous price it’s disgraceful how little time they stay in good shape and condition for. Within weeks these flimsy overpriced pieces of crap start coming apart and look spoilt so quickly. Also as others said the level of protection offered is virtually zero. The .3’s have a serious design flaw and tear so easily I returned 5 pairs bought from different places in just 3 months before opting for the more expensive models. but the .1’s don’t fair much better in truth.

Nike started all this with Nike mercurial vapor I with the ultra thin heel guard that would give you blisters. Wish Nike would release them the EXACT SAME WAY THEY WERE. Now those were light cause you could feel Antoine step on you

Between these two Speedportals, I'd go responsiveness all day. Mostly because there's not much else on offer in the Speedportal line, and if I wanted comfort, there's any number of boots better than the Speedportal
