One thing that helped me during my divorce to a narc was to think about how would my children want to see me handle things, how would I want them to see me, to remember how I handled things. How did they need me to handle things so they had the least amount of stress going through it. Your kids deserve a mom who is confident and happy. You've got this. I was a doormat, too. Co-dependant. But going through it all, I am on the path to healing and now feel so much more confident. You look much happier. Not having to walk on eggshells in your own home will give you the reserves to deal with him when you have to. The biggest lesson I learned was when someone shows you who they are, believe them. We are here for you!!

I am sure safety is your priority, just make sure all of your cameras and security systems are solely under your control (even if you have to do complete reinstall). When exchanging the kids, don’t let him inside if possible, do it outside/garage, or in public. As much as I want you to share, and feel free to… maybe record these things and release them later on, but give him nothing. I am so thrilled things are starting to look up (fiiiinally) for you. ❤

I grew up in a high stress household. My parents were terribly unhappy together but stayed together making each other and my brother and I thoroughly miserable. My father finally left us for his girlfriend when I was in college and it was like a breath of fresh air. We suddenly felt happy and free. We were able to invest in ourselves and in our house and have a better life. Even though I do love my father I wish he had left us sooner. To everyone reading this that's going through an unhappy marriage or divorce, remember that your unhappiness is also your children's unhappiness. Don't leave them permanently traumatized by remaining in an unhappy relationship. It may hurt now but staying will have long lasting effects on both you and your children.

This is soooo true. My parents actually divorced when I was about 5 and it's the best thing they ever did for me. If they had continued to stay together life would have been miserable. Don't stay together for the kids, if you're unhappy, separate for the kids and their sanity.

My parents divorced when I was 19 and, apart from the obvious shock and mourning that is undeniable, I was thrilled. I wanted them to be _happy_ - that's all I wanted. I wanted to not have to worry about them and not walk on eggshells and be dishonest every time I came home. Also as someone also currently going through a difficult divorce (I'm at the very tail end), congratulations on having your space to yourself, that pressure release is the sweetest feeling. Enjoy it ❤ I tell everyone now who wants to hear it, with peace and love, that the kindest thing you can do for your partner is make a very detailed separation agreement while you still love each other. If you never break up, great, it was just a theory. If you do... you will thank yourselves. I will never share my life and assets without a prior agreement again, never. Breakups are hard enough without also having to do business.

Thank you for sharing this update. I also am going through a legal battle right now in civil court. I got sued by someone who completely abused me for a year straight and tried to gaslight me into thinking i deserved that. Then they had the audacity to sue me for something petty. As difficult as it is to be subjected to this, i am grateful to have the opportunity to counter sue and lay it all out there. We are very hopeful we will win and be compensated significantly. You definitely look to be in better spirits than previously. Several years ago, I had to fight my ex for custody and child support. And working as a paralegal for different attorneys since that time I have learned a lot. After being retained they would advise their clients not to post anything on social media regarding the divorce (ie: pictures or video of themselves that might be taken out of context) , not to respond to the other party in a negative manner or until the attorney can look at the reponse before it's sent and to keep all receipts for discovery and trial. It can be a very lengthy and grueling process. However, with the right attorney, which I hope you know have, it can go very smoothly for both sides. I wish you and your kids love and happiness!❤

I still can't comprehend the full extent, the cptsd and doesn't help people not understanding the mental abuse in entails ! But I wasn't married and I up and left everything behind, I walked from the business and tick the kids ! I literally started from the ground up as that was the only way ! Him and I have sat on the couch together and cried. Now everything is good. He is happy, I am happy, and his father is happy. During the harder times, I would reassure my son that everything was going to be ok, and that his emotions and thoughts were valid, and we would talk it out when he needed to.
