Sorry Kevin, I just can't let that stand. Aaron is definatly not a helper, he's a certified Boiler maker "Supervisor" who spends his off days working as a team member with Mike. So these two men, Mike the engineer/fabricator and Aaron the experienced Boilermaker welder are working together to make mikes dream, a reality. So friend yes and helper no.

Aaron is one hell of a welder! I've only seen one better. George Hradyl, a Czech immigrant and certified aircraft welder and machinist, 50 years ago. I taught George to fly and he taught me to gas, stick, MiG and Tig weld, and operate a lathe and mill. I think about him every time I 'glue' two pieces of metal together or operate my machines. I had one concern going into this episode, Mike, the gussets you fab'd for the top plate, and you took care of it. (Similar minds think alike)?!?! Keep it up, this is one of the best series you've produced to date.......... Gives the old expression, "I think I'll lay some pipe tonight!" a whole new meaning!!

Back in the day when I was younger, we built brackets like that one and that was before our shop had any mig machines so we welded everything with stick rods! It wasn’t hard to burn a 50# box of 7018 or 7024 jet rods and everything had to have a 6010 stringer and hot pass before the 7018’s! You talk about going home after a long day worn out and some of the days were really long! Nobody ever heard about OSHA back then! All back in the late 70’s and 80’s brother! You talk about eye burning then because 4 welders on a bracket that size! I remember barely raising my hood to squeeze another rod in and try not to get the flash from the guy next to you! But I figure Aaron knows about that on his job! Thanks for sharing your awesome job Mike! 👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🇺🇸

I used to do company safety inspections for two large manufacturing company’s… probably 90 plants between them. Welding areas were always a treasure trove of findings… bottles not capped, retention chains missing from carts and storage areas, improper tint in helmets, no flash screens, bare wires on welders…. You name it, I found it! But, the one thing that was never forgotten was, to mark the empty’s. A few marked them with “E” but the overwhelming majority used “MT”. It’s almost universal in welder language!

I thought the pin was coming out the top to make it easier for mounting, the front gusset stops that. I’ve built a lot of light and heavy equipment in my time. I’m very impressed with the design and not trying to save money when able. The extra gussets and mounts will keep it from twisting and bending over time. Let Aaron weld the way he wants, he’s the expert/certified welder, leave him alone. I watched C&C install the hydraulic valve a couple of months ago, it seams. After watching Randy plow pipe on other channels, I was concerned that this 850J would pull this plow, then you said that you hoped 2- 850 dozers hooked together will work. Even with the new tracks it going to be a load on both dozers. Stay safe-Good luck

Looking really good, the gussets on the are well placed. Have you thought about putting a gusset on each side of the bottom. The bottom pin will have force pulling out when you are installing the pipe and if you hit a rock the bottom will try and go around it either to the left or right and with the pulling force it will be very easy for the bottom to twist left or right. You could put a gusset on each side about 2" from the bottom pin going at a angle to the main plate. You did a great job with your drawings and getting all the dimensions spot on. It is going to be a beast.

You mentioned a building support rig/cradle for it, just use the hydraulic ram to lift it up onto a frame, like using the boom to climb on an excavator. Some lift eyes and chain to secure the base plate then lower ripper and drive off. Basically just scafholding with a few hydraulic lines, a few check valves and some chain) that can be broken down and stored

Hi DP & Co. I’m guessing this clip is a few weeks old, wondering if you guys have tested the pipe burial plough, if so how did it go…..asking as i have experience of power cable and flexible pipelines burial but all subsea, on the seabed underwater….we used a plough which operated remotely pulled by a tracked 40ton buggy, it was experimental in the beginning but one thing that did become apparent was steering the buggy while trenching in a product. It would not like to turn. The plough was mounted directly onto the buggy fixed in line, ok travelling in a straight line. Cut to the problem we had to introduce a pivot point between the buggy and plough, this had a hyd ram to manually move the plough but also an open centre valve to allow the plough to float left and right while steering the buggy.

As usual, the friends you make, makes all the difference. Aaron is a Godsend! C&C's Clint and Kevin and Randy are the type of team that gets it done! But all you guys wouldn't be as far along in your endeavors without the support of Mrs. DP, and Brigitte, just sayin'... Great project with great work!

Looking amazing, can't wait to see her tearing through the earth. With the cab tilted up it looked like she was already doing wheelies without the boot even on it lol. Can't wait to see the final product, nicely done so far 😁👍

Find a big pin on tooth to put on the front bit that way you can replace it easy. Think huge equip bucket tooth mabey an old mine would have a bunch of good used ones that way you would have identical spare teeth and pins. Thanks for the videos!!!
