I understand the save a buck mentality. I play into it all the time. But to those that have said “the big grip/club/shoe/etc companies are ripping us off” they have done the design, engineering, manufacturing and marketing. All cost money. That being said, they are the ones that have shipped the manufacturing off to Asia. And they’re in bed with the very people that are ripping them off. Protecting their IP and brand starts with doing business with people that respect your IP and brand.

And as for the big golf companies that choose to sell a £2 grip for £30 all the power to temu , and if you professionals wont fit them for us amateurs, then i guess we will learn to do it ourselves, so i wouldn't be so hasty to refuse, then you could always move onto the shopping channel to earn your crust, you done a lovely job for temu lol.

TEMU (based on what I've read) is like WISH, tons of counterfeit/knockoffs. As long as people are aware, for these prices, it makes sense for some people.
@yellowa4725

There is no reason the quality has to be lower at the price point, the main difference is it's coming directly from the manufacturer so what you save is the Brand and reseller margins. However even if they are coming out of the same manufacturer then I think it should be marketed differently without being sold as branded products.

No everybody would know that though, unless someone has ordered them, they might not even trust this is a legitimate sight at these prices.

How do you know the more expensive grips aren't the fake ones, do you actually realise the mark up price on golf equipment.

We bought them direct from the retailer, as I work in a shop. I do, the real grips cost is more from the manufacturers before we put our small profit on, than than TEMU.

If you’re a musician you’re probably aware of the guitars they sell from China that are copies of major brands for a fraction of the price. Now are they as good as the real thing of course not. I ordered a Gibson Les Paul and was pretty surprised at how good it was. But I had to do some work on the set up and also replaced the pickups . The ones that came in it were junk. But when you look at it next to my real Les Paul you can easily spot it’s a fake…

very true but alot of people are getting caught when people sell them off,On the golf grip subject i got copies off Amazon 12 months ago and to me they are as good as the genuine ones and for less the quarter of the price.

I don’t think their margins will be greater than the people selling fakes, they’ve just got to build in all the costs of marketing and other business expenses that these counterfeit makers don’t have too. The guys who make the counterfeit stuff aren’t doing it to help you out, they’ll be millionaires too.

If it seems too good to be true, it usually is. There are exceptions to every rule, but I can't imagine a site like Temu would be one of the exceptions 😂😂

Temu sells things what they are really worth. Other companies you pay for the name £100 Nike trainers cost less than £3 to make and are the same material used to make £5 trainers off the market £400 gucci handbag is less than £5 material and is the same material used in any cheap £5 handbag you buy
@lexxwhite747
@lexxwhite747 11 ай бұрын
@@SL0409 But they're not selling the genuine goods they advertise, that was the point. If you buy something from Temu that says Scotty Cameron on it for 5 bucks, you can guarantee Titleist/ Acushnet had absolutely nothing to do with its manufacturing or distribution. They sell cheap counterfeit crap and steal other people's hard work and brand names to make money off it.

These imitations just show how much markup is being paid by us. Less middle men makes things much cheaper plus the manufacturers are paying for design and research which has to be paid for but when you can buy pretty much the same thing for 25% of the authentic then it's a tough deal to pass up, especially for something like grips that wear out anyways. I wouldn't buy fake golf clubs or life saving devices etc, but consumable items for sure I do.

People forget these companies have to develop, test, manufacture & market these products & allow retailers to make profit. I'd rather take my real drugs daily that I need for my health vs copy stuff that could contain anything or drive a real car tested vs a copy BMW .... just look at the cheap batteries exploding & causing fires in peoples homes.

If major manufacturers continue to be this greedy, then sites like this will continue to thrive! The major manufacturers are trying to convince us the raw products that they’re dealing with is way too expensive and that’s what is driving the price point then you have other countries producing the same thing for much less

This is what happens when manufacturers have their products made in China. They have all the blueprints for products over there. They would be fools not to make replicas and sell them as real.

Easiest way to tell is test a discrete area with a little white spirit on the grip. Any branded finish will NOT loose its colour. Fakes will. Fakes are also harder to fit as the compound is definitely different.

What people need to understand is that pretty much all the "brand names" get their products manufactured in China. The reason you can barely tell any difference, if any at all is because most likely the "knock off" comes out of the same factory as the "brand name" product. Now that China has basically become the world`s manufacturer they will slowly cut out the "middle man" and sell direct via on-line platforms. More and more the question will be do you want to pay for over priced items containing a "brand tax".?
