Even though I am from W Africa, my parents were of different backgrounds: my father's roots were in Ghana, Togo, and the Republic of Benin while my Mom's roots were squarely in Senegal. Back then, it was not easy, but as I grew up, and lived in both Senegal and Togo, with visits to Ghana and the Republic of Benin, I learned to appreciate and like my background. I have been living in the West for many years. The key to international relationships is the consideration each one involved gives to the other side.
Jenny, you are a wonderful mother and wife ✨ Your husband respects, loves, and truly values you- the foundation is so important and you two are great role models/examples for your boys. Happy New Year and thank you for sharing your lives with us ❤
A very educational family event especially when breaking into smaller groups to share your life experiences and learning from each other especially when living in a foreign land.Nice watching your vlog Jenny and A Happy New Year 2025 to all in the Koga family.🎉✨️🥂💕🇲🇾
Thank you for sharing and talking about this interesting topic. My family is also an international one with my husband being Japanese while I am Australian. We have been married for 38 years and have raised three children in both countries, who all love and respect both of their cultures. I agree that it’s important to talk to your children about your own childhood, how you were raised and what cultural and family values you learned from your own parents. I would also suggest to take this a step further and to talk to your kids about everything - the good things and the difficulties too. As we are role models for our kids it’s important that they can see that we make mistakes sometimes and that going through hard times is a part of life. Sending best wishes from my family to your family for a happy and healthy 2025.🎉

I come from Ethiopia, and my husband is from the US. We met while attending university here in the US. One of our family rule is to ensure that our children maintain connections with both sides of the family. I also make it a point to speak to them in the Ethiopian language so they can have that cultural connection. I’m looking forward to the day we can travel to Ethiopia together where our children will have the opportunity to hear and communicate with their extended family

To me, "how a family should be" that statement sounds ridiculous. All families are dysfunctional in some way. I truly believe in what Koga says, "there is no right or wrong way. How could they be! You ha.ve to take into account culture and backgrounds, how each individual was raised. As long as each individual was taught basic values and morals that in itself would take them through life. There is no ideal way to raise children! You just try your best and leave the rest to the almighty God.❤❤❤❤❤
