Zoos have a purpose. My state's zoo breeds tiny bunnys, butterflies, and turtles to repopulate critical wildlife.

Yeah it really depends on the zoo tbh. The zoo in my city is built within a huge natural forest in the area so the enclosures are actual wilderness and not a zoo cage. They also only bring in rescues and endangered animals that needed the support of humans to survive. But unethical zoos do exist in lots of places as well.
