It's actually a slick set up. Being a guy who lives where I can't feel my face half the year, I wish this was a possibility for me!

Hmmmm. I get it. Up here in NH we have a saying...Live, Freeze, and Die. (its a play on the state moto).

i remember this being told to me years ago...a compression test on an engine that has been sitting for years may be inaccurate as the cylinder walls will be bone dry of oil and not sealing....if you add a bit of oil through the spark plug hole and turn the engine by hand a few times and then let it sit overnight to drain the excess oil, this will get the compression readings closer to where it would have been when it was running.

I completely agree. When I made the decision to pull the engine about a month ago, I started doing exactly that (you can see a video about that in the beginning of the CJ5 rebuild series). Thank you for watching and commenting. Hope you stick around and watch more of the fun.

Funny but I did the same thing 60 years ago when I was 21 years old, with my father-in-law who was an experienced mechanic. The engine was a Ford 272 C.I. V-8 with a Holly 4 BBL carb, lowered down into the bulkhead of his basement using a chain fall. It wasn't easy but we got it down there. Tore it down to a bare block, cleaned out all the oil galleys, had the crankshaft ground, pistons knurled, new cam shaft, wrist pins, and all new cam, rod, and main bearings. Replaced the fuel pump, points, condenser, distributor cap, & plug wires. Put it all together and hauled it out of the basement the same way. We then trucked it back to the shop where we both worked and dropped in back into my sweet two tone 57 Ford stick shift and that engine purred like a kitten thereafter. That was a car that my wife and I will never forget, and your video brought back some good memories for me. Good luck with the rebuild.

Thank you ranckie! Thank you for watching and thank you for the fantastic story and encouragement. By your story I am guessing you no longer have the car? If I can get this all done...it will be the completion of a project I started when I was 21.
