The best advice is to watch out for fuel tankers filling servo tanks when you pull into the servo. If they are refilling the fuel tank of the type of fuel that you wish to buy, leave that servo and go somewhere else. The tanker pumps fuel into the tank and stirs up all of the sediment and water etc. that has accumulated in the bottom of the tank and until it settles again, you are at risk of picking up contaminated fuel.

Um... So you already did a vid about a fuel additive to do this (sort out wet and dirty diesel) which is what these seperator and filter combo's do ... So maybe before the "Snorkel" vid you do a video about the "additive vs element" approach for our diesel engines when it comes to dirty and wet diesel... Else why have a vid on one, then the other, which is which?!?. Yes, I know the answer, but not everyone will!... Especially if I have a mate text and ask "why have a video on additive for off diesel then sell a filter for off diesel"... I'm sure others will wanna know aswell,.
@thatsgangsta24504 жыл бұрын
Seano Hutton I’m sure you could just have the prefilter and the additive and then there’s very little chance of dirty fuel getting into your diesel. The additive cleans the fuel while the pre filter cleans out the water

Here in NZ we have low sulphur fuel and when it goes through a delivery pump especially a centrifugal type any water gets emulsified and because of the low sulphur content dose not colece quickly. Therefore it will not sink to the bottom of a bowl. There are filters that absorb water and hold it. Donaldson. A cheap filter I install on storage tanks, Golden Rod, has water absorbing media and a Honda pump that can pump up to 80 psi will not push water contaminated diesel through even when it has been thrashed and emulsified in the centrifugal pump. Water in diesel produces better combustion because it turns to steam exiting the injector atomising the diesel more but of course it erodes the injector tip on the way. Bugger!

After spending thousands on injector pump, hard lines to the rail, the rail and new injectors due to shitty fuel I'll take all the options. This system seem to work exactly like a Provent Catch Can, taking the oil out of the atomized air re circulation into your air box. I run a different brand pre fuel filter to supplement the factory filter. I have noticed a marked improvement by running Fuel Doctor religiously after the special that Graham did a while back, in fact it goes in the boat too. Never go to a servo that a tanker is at.
@canyonoverland50034 жыл бұрын
Australia is high-tech, affluent country. How is water finding its way into your underground tanks? Do you have an abundance of single hull, rusty tanks there? Can you not compel your retailers to upgrade the tanks? How about compelling the retailers to add commercial grade water separators at the fuel stations? As a Canadian driving commerial diesel trucks since 1979, I've never had an issue with water in my truck's tanks (except for one time where I forget to recap my tank after fueling up). Almost all of my trucks have had the type of water separator with the glass bowl at the bottom, but can't remember any occasion where I had to drain the water out.

What about the ‘Fuel Dr’ mix? Graham promotes that last year. It seemed to get rid of water and contaminates in the diesel. Only cost $30 per bottle. Also with the discussion on ‘old v new’ vehicles, I drive an ‘07 rodeo’ and there is no fitting for it. Anything older than 2012 is forgotten about by most companies like this.

@KR7PT4 жыл бұрын
I used fuel doctor in my 4wd, did the shock treatment then just used roughly 50mL per tank. Not sure if that caused it, but all 4 of my common rail injectors started leaking and playing up further down the line. $2700 later and the injectors were replaced, manifold cleaned, and she runs cleaner and quieter than ever. Next step will definitely be a Prefilter when money allows - These kits are expensive and for some reason that code won't work for a 4M41 engine model.

Did you end up getting this system for your 4M41 engine? Love to hear how things went mate, cheers
@KR7PT3 жыл бұрын
@@justuswithrandomstuff8250 nah I went away from it, the prefilter has a larger membrane than a regular filter, it won't stop extra particulates, it'll just catch water which fuel doctor takes care of if there's any in my diesel.
@stuarthancock5714 жыл бұрын
So a general rule of thumb is (whenever possible) fill the tank full at the end of the day. A near empty tank cooling down overnight can attracts condensation inside the tank, and puts water in the fuel. (Truckie talk, not so easy if you're camping away from a servo but the principle remains the same) Otherwise use a fuel additive can help.

@Sabumnim6666 ай бұрын
Yep they try that but the consumer law actually does cover you. People need to get over the fear that if it is not standard then its a risk to your warranty, as an example I have a new car with a pre rego GVM and it is fully covered under my new car warranty with Ford it is in my warranty contract. If you modify your car get it done correctly, the car maker has to prove the mod contributed to the fault.

Old comment but ill answer it. No, the fuel flow volume wont be changed as the area of filtration is larger. the VELOCITY of fuel flowing through is slowed. Its due to Benulis principal. Where the pressure is high, the flow is low. Where the pressure is low, the flow is high. Basically, the tighter the filtration media, the fuel essentially has to neck down and flow through smaller holes. it HAS to speed up to accomplish this. Just like putting your thumb over a hose. By enlarging the filtration area and the media, the fuel velocity slows down, allowing the water to fall out of suspension and fall the bottom due to higher density. Pretty clever.
