We race the Rat Karts! Was the upgrades worth it?...

We did a few upgrades on Damon's go kart so we wanted to put it up against my stock predator 212. It rips! Next we are advancing the timing 8 degrees and we'll see the gains from that.

Why bother with an air filter? Just bolt on a velocity stack, the engine is disposable. During a HF special, the air filter kit will cost more than a replacement engine. Just get a couple. 20 years ago I built a kart with a real Honda 6.5, and even when the engines weren't cheap, the racing crowd was running only velocity stacks. So, the bell-mouth intake spacers were cheap & that's what I did. (1" thick alluminum donut to replace stock intake, works with stock carb studs after removing the plastic air filter housing)

Bonding primer and white spray paint. They won't last forever but easy touch up.
