Definitely gotta be Seaking. Goldeen is in like every single game AND it was one of Misty's pokemon in the anime. Yet its STILL one of the most forgettable pokemon, and no one has ever put one on their team to get a Seaking. Heck, Waterfall is Seaking's signature move in gen 1 and no one ever knew.

Another connection idea is to do the same but the pokemon that connects both in the middle must be the last pokemon to be caught. (not have in dex). Like you're honing in on a target. Could have a few interesting starts attached to it
