Another great racquet roundup! Best racquet reviewer on KZbin at the moment. I used to be a huge Head fan but the most disappointing racquet releases for me have been the Radical Pro and Extreme Tour. They're not necessarily 'bad' but they just don't come together as playable racquets for me. The Boom Pro was better than both IMO. Could be a QC thing which is an area Head need to improve...

Great video Luca. These tier ones are my favorites of the year . Just got a percept 97. And I am loving it. I feel however the need to add some weight In order to get a little heavier stroke. Do you think that 4 more grams on the handle and 4 more on the hoop would do the job? Maybe instead of adding weight to the handle, it would be better to put a leather grip ? I am afraid to put in too much weight, because I do a lot of doubles, and I need this maneuverability on the net. Thanks again for the detailed tier list. Merry xmas

The Prestige GT MP was the last (or one of the last) versions that were 95 and 18x20. I love that racket too. Super tight stringbed all around, but spin friendly enough with a good string. The market surely needs more 95s. Head in particular, how come you have 5-6 racket lines with 3 versions each (at least) and you don't have 1 single 95? Well they got a 89,5 now with the Prestige Classic 2.0 😅

I have tried almost all of those racket, except from the new percept and the aero 98, but based on all the rest and your comment about the difference of the vcore pro to percept i agree totally with your line up. I have some 95 and 96 and 98 i would add here. Cx200 tour a tier angell react 96 s tier, white out 18x20 b tier. I want to like the solinco white out 18x20, maybe it's string sensitive and I've got to try a different string setup in it. It could be a tier. I have a tennis buddy blade v8 18x20 available again to me and the white out is hoop shape string pattern wise a blatant copy of the blade v8 18x20. I cannot find any differences. But if course the solinco feels differently with the foam filling and higher stiffness. That's where my issue is with it. It feels comfortable when you connect well with the sweet spot, but it feels stuff and jarring if you don't. Could be my stiff polyester strings at 23 kg in that 18x20

I think there are two types of players when choosing a racket, the ones that focus on turn-ons and the ones that do on turn-offs. If you are the second kind and just hate that a racket has some weakness, then the radical is an almost perfect frame. If you are looking for an outstanding feature in which the racket excels (as Luca seems to be with his "X-factor") then it's not so impressive.

Great overview! I switched to a Blade v7 16x19 after having played with Babolat Pure Drive for years and then Babolat Pure Strike 100. Man, that racket could produce rockets but it lacked control and was tough on my arm, giving me golfers elbow. Had the same with the PD. Blade is definitely softer on the arm and more precise but I still miss the free power of the Babolats. This made me even more interested in the Aero 98, but how is that on the arm? Is a Vcore 95 maybe a better option, given my history of golfers elbow? I have most of them i knew v core 95 is the best but gave me shoulder problem with the larger grip it has Blade is second because it is got the longest shaft and the backhand is superb Aero is good but not outsanding because it is never going to give you outsanding first serve and we see even alcaraz lacking outsanding first serve

It’s too bad that you don’t carry, and therefore mention, the most iconic 95 square inch racquet: Wilson’s 6.1 95 . You know, the one used by past and present players like Del Potro, Kohlschreiber, Bautista Agut, Rosol, Kyle Edmund, Dan Evans, Opelka, Lajovic, Lehecka etc

Silicone grommets ONLY work if grommets hole is big ...gravity pro n ezone holes are tight , you also have to hit the ball on the strngbed near the grommet ...sooooo stop talking silicone cause it's mostly the new layup giving it spin

Very knowledgable video, interesting that you know all these frames first hand! Talking about the Ezone @ 17:15 - wow this is EXACTLY what I always thought. The DR98 Ezone is one of the best rackets ever made (I actually use it as my main frame still / now again, played the RF97 for 2 years! :-) ). So I really hope Yonex goes back from thickeining the Ezones. This is exactly why I just couldn't like the Ezone 2022 (currenty version). The Ezone must be 22mm period. Honestly, the thing they should do is go 100% back to the DR98 Ezone any maybe try to really improve tiny things on it (if that's even possible or necessary). PS. Fun question to you: If you have to chose between the VCore 95 (2023) and the Ezone DR98, which is it for you (and bonus question: why?)
@RacketsRunnersVancouver
@RacketsRunnersVancouver 10 ай бұрын
That's a pretty easy answer for me: DR 98. As much as I love the current Vcore 95, the DR 98 is in my top 3-4 favourite rackets ever because the feel is so amazing!

Hi, nice video. Just want to comment that in my opinion the ezone did not start the "flex throat, stiff hoop", i think Dunlop did with the Revolution tour pro frame and similars in the 90's. I still have one of those sticks and are greats!! Salutes from Uruguay.

What is your thing with YONEX 97H? You have not done a video about it , yet you are enthusiastic about the 97 and more in general about Yonex, furthermore you have never even hit with this stick and still place in A tear: in front of your majesty Wilson RF97 and the best positioned Head... This is so confusing, you owe us all a full video on this stick :) I would be so happy and I am certain many others would as well.

You do know that weighting up the Percept 97 isn't going to get you anywhere remotely close to the feel and playability of the 97H right? There is a huge difference in the way those two frames feel and play. You should really try the Percept 97H. Best racket on the market imo. And I've tried them all this past summer.

How different is the Aero 98 from the 2019 Aero 100? I own the 2019 Aero 100 and I really can’t play with it, so powerful and feel no connection to the ball, spraying balls long all the time, just way too powerful. I just bought a 2021 Prestige Pro in the hope that it would be a much less powerful one. I also prefer flexible, soft, ballpocketing rackets. Hurts to see it in B tier, since I play and enjoy it much more than the Aero. I also prefer the classical feel since I played most of my tennis back in 1998-2004 and all the new stiff powerful crisp rackets + stiff poly strings just feel like a different and worse hitting experience for me.
@RacketsRunnersVancouver
@RacketsRunnersVancouver 10 ай бұрын
The Aero 98 would be the perfect racket for what you're wanting. Much, much better feel than the 2019 Aero and a significantly more solid response off contact.

Sad to see that the Pure Strike is not in this video. But properly because you dont carry this legend or its dampened and you dont get the "feel" the vibra shock in your arm. Feel to me is overrated as this do nothing to the game. You cant unmake your stroke because you felt something. the ball is out the rackets string before your brain register the "feel".
@RacketsRunnersVancouver
@RacketsRunnersVancouver 10 ай бұрын
I agree with your take on feel but I still love it despite it not mattering too much. We're sold out of the current Strike but the new one is coming and... I won't say much more than that...

I don’t get how he said a non-constant beam on a 98 takes away the “perfectness” of a racquet. Would a constant beam be better for all 98s then?
@RacketsRunnersVancouver
@RacketsRunnersVancouver 10 ай бұрын
No, not necessarily. Constant beams are great because the flex is so consistent but something like the Ezone, while not traditional, would not have the variety and playability it dos without its fluctuating beam.

Very good video as always !I m hesitating between ezone 98 and shift 99 300g customized. I have ohbh and use spin. First time i used shift i had good control and good power, i used another shift with different string probably less tension and i had no control at all 😔 I m a bit lost in my choice. What would you recommend between both of them please ?

I think the Ezone is a safer bet but if you can dial in a good setup with the Shift then you will absolutely love it.

I played with the vcore 95 and like it but recently tried again the vcore 98 and like the extra forgiveness and power. I will play with the vcore 98 from now on. Great spin and good control if you hit with topspin specially. But you can flatten well also. In terms of solidity and clean hitting, both Vcores are better than the extreme tour.
