1:01:20 Hot take.... I actually think the concept for this battle is a LOT better than Avengers 1. Let me explain. The Chitauri as a villain species, the unnamed masses, are the same sort of concept as Ultron, but the fact that his robots literally don't matter, they're all him, is such a scarier concept. Loki wants to rule. Ultron wants to cleanse. The concept is scarier, and there are, in theory, a finite number of Chitauri, wheras (iirc), the bots are making more bots, meaning Ultron is infinite. If the city wasn't about to be dropped Ultron would simply beat them by wearing them down. Yes, the execution of the A1 fight is better, but the concept of the A2 fight takes it for me.

Bit of a long one incoming. So I’ve started to realize recently how much I enjoy Phase 2 as a whole. My ranking is 6. Thor: The Dark World 6/10 (Not great, but in a recent rewatch it’s way better than I remembered) 5. Iron Man 3 8/10 (Is the Mandarin twist dumb? Yeah but I’ve always loved watching this movie, and it’s one of my most rewatched MCU movies despite the flaws.) 4. Avengers: Age of Ultron 8.5/10 (Easily the weakest Avengers movie, but still one of the most slept on MCU movies, and a great movie for sure.) 3. Ant-Man 9/10 (A movie I did not expect to like that much that ended up being one of my favorites in the MCU, it’s on par with Black Panther as my #10 in my MCU ranking.) 2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier 10/10 (Objectively the best in the phase and a top 5 if not top 3 MCU movie.) 1. Guardians of the Galaxy 10/10 (My favorite movie in the entire MCU and one of my top 10 favorite movies. Not perfect, but it’s the MCU movie I’ve rewatched the most and never gotten tired of similar to Avengers.)

To comment on the Edgar Wright bit, it was more serious than that, he started working on it in 2003 years before the MCU ever began. It was his passion project that he developed for over a decade only to leave a couple months before filming began in 2014 stating they didn’t want to make an ‘Edgar Wright film’. By far the biggest what if of the MCU. Sucks too bc Feige has since given directors free range to add their creative dna to films i.e Waititi, Gunn, Zhao etc.

The same way that I think guardians 1 is less funny on rewatch, I actually think guardians 2 is way funnier in rewatch. It seriously used to be one of my least favorite MCU movies and it’s top 5 for me now. I saw it in theaters again in the marathon with the 3rd and I absolutely loved it
